Mississinewa Community Schools Families and Staff:
As you may be aware, there have been numerous unsubstantiated school threats circulating on social media in recent weeks, both throughout Indiana and nationally. Some of our students have encountered these alarming messages on social media platforms such as Snapchat.
We want to assure you that we take all threats seriously, are fully aware of this activity, and are closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Gas City Police Department and our School Resource Officers. As always, our school resource officers, safety protocols, and safety equipment are in place at all of our buildings to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
We encourage parents and guardians to take this opportunity to monitor their child’s social media activity closely and to remind them that making inappropriate comments or jokes about threats of violence on social media can have serious legal and disciplinary consequences.
Please remember that if you see something concerning, you should say something. Concerns can be reported directly to the Gas City Police Department and school administrators.
Thank you for your support as we work together to keep our children, schools, and community safe.
GO INDIANS!!
