Tribute Volunteers Visit the Flight 93 Memorial
Last weekend, the Tribute Center volunteers and staff went to Shanksville, PA. There we met with the Shanksville Ambassadors, as well as volunteers and staff from the Pentagon Memorial.

The Tribute Center docents also attended the Shanksville Community Picnic, which was sponsored by the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department. We were also given a tour of the Flight '93 headquarters, Pennsylvania State Game Lands #93, and the Remember Me Rose Garden.
The trip enables Tribute Center volunteers to share their own personal thoughts and feelings about the Flight 93 memorial with visitors to the WTC site.
The first phase of the Memorial which includes the Memorial Plaza, Wall of Names, and Entrance Road will be dedicated on September 10, 2011. The second phase of the Memorial, which includes the Visitor Center, Learning Center, and Walkway to the Memorial Plaza is expected to be completed by 2014. The Tower of Voices will be built in the final phase of the Memorial.

9/11: The World Speaks | |
Yesterday, a special book signing event of 9/11: The World Speaks, a collection of comments, memories and poignant drawings of visitors to the Tribute WTC Visitor Center, was held. The Tribute WTC Visitor Center book is available at Barnes and Noble and on Amazon. Click here to watch the NY1 News video on the book signing.
More than 2.3 million people from 120 countries have visited the Tribute WTC Visitor Center since opening in 2006. The Tribute Center's motto; "Person to Person History" is exemplified by the volunteer guides who share their own personal 9/11 experiences on their tours prompting some 200,000 visitors to offer their own thoughts, recollections and artwork on 5x7 cards ( in 47 different languages). To commemorate these contributions and collections of this shared experience; the Tribute Center has selected about 225 of these comments to be preserved in a special 10th anniversary commemorative book. As we approach the anniversary, this book reminds us of some of the ways that 9/11 changed the world.
9/11: The World Speaks will be available for purchase at the Tribute Center and where ever books are sold. Click here to lean more about the upcoming book sign by Lee Ielpi at the 86th & Lexington Avenue Barnes & Noble on Wednesday, August 24 at 7pm . 9/11 Reflection Station

On August 4, 2011, reflections about 9/11 written by over 200 New Yorkers were displayed in a temporary public art installation in the historic Battery's Gardens of Remembrance.
The piece, "September 11th Tenth Anniversary Reflections", is the culmination of a public art project created by the Tribute WTC Visitor Center in collaboration with the non-profit Feel the Music!, and The Battery Conservancy.
Throughout the month of July, tables with art supplies were set up in parks in Lower Manhattan and people were given an opportunity to write or draw on small pieces of translucent mylar. The reflections are heartfelt and range from remembrances, wishes for peace to sadness and anger, and often include stunning imagery and colors.
