We are very sorry to have to announce the passing of a dear friend, and past leader of both Multi-Fab Products and NOVA Technology.
Bill Mayer was the second President of Multi-Fab Products, joining our team to lead it after the company was sold by its founders in 1998. As an engineer by trade and a background in sales among other things, Bill led Multi-Fab through its next several product expansions. Early in his time with the company, Bill saw the need for a technical support team to aid our customers through the problem solving in real time required at the end user’s facility by our customers’ field techs. No matter what the brand, problem solving became the main focus for Multi-Fab’s first line of service - technical support. He knew that if we were there to support the struggling repairmen in the field, by helping to solve a problem, their confidence in Multi-Fab was of greater value than a traveling team of salesmen. As the types of product offerings grew in the dock industry, Bill also saw the value of expanding into the vehicle restraint and hydraulic parts portion of the industry. Always keeping in mind that aiding those in the field with any problem at the back of the building, it would aid our business as well.
Bill also saw an opportunity in a small local vehicle restraint and dock seal company, NOVA Technology. With a restraint product unique, simplistic and almost indestructible, he knew the company would be a good fit as a sister company. He also envisioned the expansion of NOVA’s dock seal capabilities. Shortly after the purchase of NOVA the two companies moved to a larger joint location to enhance collaboration. As both companies grew, Bill continued with the strategy of continual improvements. In 2009 Bill made the decision to retire, but remained as a source of valuable input for years to come. Even after retirement Bill was always included as part of our company celebrations.
Bill always had a story to share and reason to tell it. His humor, wit and wisdom will be missed by those he touched throughout his career.
He would often say when leaving the office that he’d be back; lord willing.
I guess this time the good lord had better things planned for him.
Bill Mayer will be missed by many.
