Weekly Update October 30, 2018

Sending this week's message a little early so that I can share some pertinent information.
First the clock is ticking down for applications for the autism waiver. The application is only one page and you must have it postmarked by October 31st to be accepted for consideration.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN AGES 0-9

October 31st  is the LAST day you can mail an interest application for the autism waiver. Scroll down for more information!  Click here for Applications  in several languages.

Secondly the parking lot at the Center is being paved today and tomorrow so please be aware you will need to park elsewhere and walk to the Center if you visit in the next two days. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Also I want to wish yo all a Happy Halloween. For many of you the excitement may be all over as towns decide what day to " hold" their Halloween Trick or Treat Night. Hope that all your kids have fun this evening in a manner that is not traumatizing for them or their siblings. Each family with autism approaches Halloween differently. For some kids being included is right and comfortable, for other kids, passing out the candy at home works better, as our kids age it sometimes is harder as they become "too big" to be out trick or treating. Each of us has to find out what works best for our kids and adjust accordingly.  What ever you do I hope it will be fun for all.

We've a couple of special days coming up to celebrate our new center . We've an open house scheduled for November 12 th. We are open that day and will spend the morning at the Movies at the West Boylston Cinema at 10 AM. So if you are looking for an activity to do that day we've got you covered!  After the movie grab some lunch and then visit the center for dessert!

On November 19th we'll celebrate with little ones at the Parent's & Tot's group with a special session with children's musician Lindsay Newton Dodd. Come and enjoy an hour of music & motion and snacks, meet other parents of kids your child's age and start building YOUR village. This group meets monthly with our mistress of fun Cid Deleo and is a great way to connect with others. Siblings are welcome too! Register on our website.  Also HMEA ABA, our sister program is having 2 open houses at the new facility located right here at 712 Plantation Street scroll down for the details.

Finally I want to share that I will be out of the office for a while, due to the needs of my own family. The Center is in good hands with Kris Cariglia and the rest of the staff.  I will be in a few hours a week as I am able. I will be available by e-mail but may not be as prompt in answering so if you need help right away be sure to direct your calls and e-mails to Kris or Donmarie. I do hope to be able to see you all at the Holiday Parties I can't miss that! . Remember to call and register!  See below for all the details  !

Have a great week & see you soon !
