May 2019 Newsletter
Did you know that Trinity Academy has been distributing more than $200,000 a year in need-based scholarship aid? We are launching a Spring Scholarship Appeal to ensure that we can continue to meet the need of more than half our students while also having better resources to provide for our faculty and our academic programs. Please go to (or click on the banner) to support our school and our students. We are extremely grateful for your generosity!
Accreditation Update
This semester we submitted our preliminary accreditation report to AdvancEd and conducted our diagnostic visit. Everything has gone extremely well, and we are free to move ahead with the rest of the process. Later this month, we will be sending electronic surveys out to our parents, students, faculty, staff and alumni to get your feedback about the school which will be used in the next stage of our accreditation process. Once we have the data from those surveys, we can write our full report and schedule the full team visit. Our plan is to do the visit next semester and achieve full accreditation by January 2020. We thank you in advance for your participation in the surveys and your assistance in this important process.
Sign-Up for Parent Evaluation Conferences
We will hold evaluation conferences with parents on  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday June 4th - 6th from 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM at the school. You will need to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time in order to read through the evaluations. Then each conference will last 30 minutes. If you have more than one child at the school, you will have a conference for each child, but we can schedule them back-to-back. Parents of 6 th -10 th grade students meet with their child's teachers; the students do not attend. 11 th & 12 th grade students will come to their conferences and participate in their evaluation.

Please use the schedule button to let us know of your availability by FRIDAY, MAY 17. Dr. Clark will be working on the master plan after that date, so please help us by getting your availability sent in.

School Safety Report
Last fall we assembled a faculty safety committee, who have been working to address safety and emergency preparedness issues for the school and to write a formal safety plan. We have hosted visits from the local fire and police departments and an emergency preparedness expert, all who have been pleased with the overall status of our building, and have given us concrete steps to take to better ensure the safety of our students and all those in our school community. We are grateful that two AED defibrillators have been donated to the school, one portable unit and one that will be mounted on the middle floor with some first aid supplies. We want to thank the David Heller Foundation for their generous support. It is a high priority to ensure a safe learning environment for our students. We will keep you updated on our progress.
College Corner with Dr. Francie Longshore
Here's a few reminders as we head into summer, particularly important for Juniors to note:

The SAT is offered on 6/1. The regular registration deadline has passed, but students can still register online through 5/22. I strongly recommend that any juniors who have not yet taken the SAT take it on this date. That way, should they be less than fully satisfied with their scores, they will still have one more possible date to retake the exam (8/24) before they find themselves in the midst of writing college applications. Also, those sophomores who wish to take the SAT Latin test should do so on 6/1, since the Latin test is only offered twice a year and it is probably best to take it while the subject is still fresh in your mind. Register here:

Trinity Academy will be a test site for the Classical Learning Test (CLT) this month. The CLT is a new standardized test, similar to the SAT in format but specifically geared to students in classical education. Juniors, if you would like to register and/or know more about the CLT, please visit their website at The test will be held on 5/18, but the last day to register is 5/14.

Trini-Tones Concert Live on Facebook
The Trini-Tones sang a heavenly hour-long concert at the Grotto on April 28th. The Padula string trio added to the delight of the audience by performing Schubert's, Trio No.1 in B flat Major. Lucian Kennelly debuted as the choir's pianist. Mr. Stephen Thompson put in many extra hours with the choir to draw out the talents of our student singers. Thank you for all your efforts! Thanks also to John Kurdelak, who brought this concert to a wider audience through live-streaming! The full recording is available on Facebook here . Beautiful.
Highlights from the Junior/Senior Play Antigone
The Junior/Senior players performed the Greek Tragedy Antigone on May 3rd & 4th. The mood of this tale of sorrow and woe was set by dramatic stage fog and lighting, accompanied by splendid costuming (provided by Mr. Thompson's talented wife, Laura Anderson.) The chorus wore masks handmade by the students. A big thanks to Mr. Thompson for his brilliant staging, direction, and sound production! Highlights of this ancient drama can be viewed here.
