Epiphany Candlelight Evensong

Please join us at 6 pm on January 6, 2019 for a Candlelight Evensong to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany. Epiphany, January 6, is a feast day that marks the day the Magi (three wise men) arrived at the birthplace of Jesus. They have been following the star since they heard the news, “   After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.   When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.”  Matthew 2:9-10 We will say evening prayers, pray the psalms, and Trinity’s Choir will sing the canticles. Come be overjoyed!

New Piano Brings Beautiful Music

In partnership with the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts, Trinity has acquired a new piano. This elegant Yahama baby grand brings a bright and beautiful sound for our Sunday services as well as the annual INConcert series sponsored by the Ilse Newell Fund. This acquisition came about after the Ilse Newell organization recently approached Trinity about partnering on the purchase of a Yamaha piano so they are able to invite world class pianists to perform in their annual Classical Music series hosted by Trinity Episcopal Church. A tradition for 34 years, the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts was established in 1985 with a $10,000 anonymous donation in memory of Ilse Newell, a choir member at Trinity.

A TRINITY CHRISTMAS

Lillian & Steele Hall, along with Virginia & Charlotte McMurray, enjoyed their holiday visit to Trinity. They are great nieces of Sally and Carl Ivey.

I Saw Christmas It happened on Christmas Eve. It was a day like any other Christmas Eve. Friends wishing Merry Christmas, last minute gifts wrapped and placed under the tree, phone calls to family and friends in other cities; finished off with the traditional Christmas Eve church service. Only this time, things were different. The candles flickered a bit differently; the flowers were brighter; and, the church was filled to capacity. People were even seated in the balcony, not because they would have a better view, but because these were the only seats available. There was, I believe, magic in the air. Everyone felt it and everyone understood. It was the true meaning of Christmas; it was LOVE. As we left the church, quietly, reverently, I was dumbstruck by a happy father lovingly carrying out a tiny infant. Maybe it was a coincidence, but I’m not so sure. It was a moment in time I shall always cherish. -- Paul McAbee

Lindsey Farrell, 5-year-old granddaughter of Tom and Joyce Farrell, South Dakota friends of Ralph and Susie Wagoner, carefully placed the baby Jesus in the Nativity Scene to open Trinity's Christmas Eve service. Her parents, Jim (stationed at Eglin AFB) and Emily, and her one-month-old brother, William, also attended the service.

The Andersons Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage Thank you very much for the lovely celebration of our 50th Anniversary. Everything was beautiful and delicious; Geri was truly surprised. You are all treasured blessings in our lives and we love you all. Have a special Christmas. -- Love, Jim & Geri
