God wants us to cultivate our faithfulness
This Sunday we will proclaim a parable that we have all heard many times.
It is the parable of a sower.
It is a parable about a sower, and about the seed and what happens to it.
It's also about the different types of soils.
It's a pretty simple parable. It talks about a sower who went out to sow and cast seed into different types of soil. All the seeds were the same, what varied was the soil. Those that fell on good soil bore good fruit. But the others found more difficult soil that prevented the seed from taking hold, growing and bearing fruit.
He used everyday situations that everyone could understand to communicate important spiritual truths. To tell a parable like this, Jesus must have spent a lot of time observing, noticing and reflecting on everyday events. He relates the parables to what surrounds his followers.
Similar to the sower, each of us has a trade, a career, a profession that is not just about work. As people, we have the office of son, father, brother, friend, neighbor.
Therefore, we can see that in the parable Jesus invites us to see ourselves not only as the sower. At times we will be the fertile soil in which our hopes and our faith will be deposited. At other times we will be the seeds that will produce in others the seeds of our faith.
Jesus is the sower, he is the soil and the seed. We can make use of him so that our heart always shows itself as a sower who never gets discouraged when going out to sow; that it may be the best soil for our faith to grow and that it may sprout from it that fruit from which seeds will come forth for others.

Trusting in the Lord is easy when life is joyful and runs smoothly. But when circumstances are not as we wish, our trust in God can be weakened.
God wants us to cultivate our faithfulness to Him in all circumstances.
We must not allow frustration and discouragement to take hold of us when we do not see the results we long for. It is necessary to persevere!
In what ways has the seed, the word of God, fallen on your path, on your stony ground, on your thorns, on your fertile soil? What images or memories come to your mind and heart when you hear this parable?
