From Pentecost to Trinity Sunday
Dear friends,
This past weekend was glorious at Trinity Cathedral as we celebrated Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit into the world. On Saturday we joined with our neighbors and our siblings from across the diocese as we hosted the Hispanic Ministries event, “Celebrating Unity, Diversity, and Life.” This joyous day took place under a big tent on the Cathedral lawn and included music, dance, a Zumba class, food trucks, ice cream, a bouncy house for the kids, and a beautiful celebration of Holy Eucharist (see pictures below). Over 120 people were in attendance on Saturday, and I would like to personally thank all the volunteers, Chapter members, and musicians from Trinity Cathedral and from across our diocese who made this day possible!
And then on Pentecost Sunday, we continued the celebration with a bilingual Holy Eucharist at 11:00 a.m., followed by a parish picnic and ministries fair. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served as many signed up to volunteer for a variety of ministries which are a vital part of our life at the Cathedral – altar guild, flower guild, acolytes, readers, ushers, gardening guild, stewardship and finance, buildings and grounds, hospitality, evangelism, formation for adults and youth, fitness and wellbeing, social groups, and many more. The Holy Spirit was present and at work as these ministries gained many new volunteers – thanks be to God! And a special thanks Mr. Tony Major for reviving our festive streamers during the 11:00 service!
This coming Sunday, June 4th, is Trinity Sunday, and we will celebrate our patronal feast (the feast of the patron saint or title of a church) here at Trinity Cathedral. We will have special music and a festive coffee hour in honor of this important day on our Church calendar. Also this Sunday following each service at 8:00, 10:00, and 12:15, we will hold special "town halls" to offer an update on our 40/50-year building re-certification as well as a new initiative we are calling “Transforming Trinity” – come and participate in this important conversation!

These are difficult times and many struggle to make ends meet. When you come on Sundays, please consider bringing one or more items of canned or boxed food. Items to consider include canned goods, peanut butter, packaged cereals, paper products, dish and laundry soaps, boxed dinners, toiletry items, and feminine hygiene products. Remember that we cannot accept expired food or items that need refrigeration.
Gift Card Ministry
The LGBTQ+ ministry has organized an on-going Gift Card collection drive to aid in the purchase of perishable food items for food pantry recipients. Our Sacristan - Roberto Soto - personally distributes these cards on a weekly basis.
