Cathedral Safety and Security
Dear friends,
The Chapter met two weeks ago, and the important decision was made to renew our commitment to safety and security measures on our Cathedral campus, especially when we gather for worship on Sunday mornings. With so much news of violence in our world, we all agree that the safety of our community must be a top priority now and in the future.
To that end, we have committed ourselves to take the following steps to increase safety and security at Trinity Cathedral:
1. Beginning this coming Sunday, May 7th, an off-duty, uniformed officer from the Miami Police Department will be present during all worship services (8:00, 10:00, and 12:15).
2. Ushers and all worship leaders/participants (clergy, vergers, acolytes, etc.) will participate in new security training in the coming weeks.
3. The Chapter will be reviewing and revising the Cathedral Emergency/Disaster plan in the coming weeks.
4. New exterior lighting has been installed in the south parking area, and non-working light bulbs have been replaced in the north parking area.
5. In an effort to secure the perimeter of our campus, we are currently in the process of repairing the fence and wall on 15th street, and we are making sure that the parking lot gates are closed and locked each night.
Please be assured there have been no active signs or threats of violence at the Cathedral. These are simply proactive steps in order to make Trinity a safer place for all of us to gather, to worship, and to serve this community. Please keep the leadership and our entire Cathedral community in your prayers as we make these very important changes.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at frjason@trinitymiami.org.
Many blessings,
Father Jason
