An Invitation: Walk in Love
On Sunday, October 1st we will begin a parish-wide book study to read and discuss Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs & Practices by Episcopal priests Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Strobe. I would like to extend an invitation to the entire Cathedral community to participate in reading this wonderful book together over the next six weeks. (*This class will also serve as the required course for those being confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church at the Great Vigil of Easter in March, 2024.)
Walk in Love offers an important perspective on what it means to be a Christian in our Anglican/Episcopal tradition. I have read this book with other groups and congregations several times before, and readers always come away seeing and understanding the Episcopal Church in new and exciting ways. It is perfect for inquirers and newcomers to the Episcopal Church, and it is also a wonderful "refresher course" for those who have been in the Church for years and for anyone else in between. Even for life-long Episcopalians, you will learn things you never knew before, I can promise you that! (Even if you can't join us on Sundays in person, I invite you to read along at home.)
Walk in Love gives us a broad "view from 25,000 feet" of the Episcopal Church, with topics including the liturgical calendar, the sacraments of the Church, daily prayer and the Daily Office, worldwide Anglicanism, and Anglican theology, The Reverend Canon Stephanie Spellers, Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Evangelism, Reconciliation, and Creation Care, says this about Walk in Love - "Read it if you want to learn the relationship between our prayer, our belief, and our daily life. Read it to get re-rooted in the unique Anglican approach to the Way of Jesus. Just read it."
So join us beginning on Sunday, October 1st at 11:15 (in English) and at 1:30 (in Spanish) in the All Saints Chapel! (Books are available for purchase on Amazon for $22.)

"Pews to Chairs" Project
For many decades now, pews have been replaced by chairs in countless cathedrals and churches across the Episcopal Church and the world with remarkable success. In many cases, it has allowed congregations to experience a transformation and rebirth of their communities. Stackable, multi-use chairs will give Trinity a fully flexible and multi-purpose space that functions not only for worship, but for a variety of ministry and community events. The success of Transforming Trinity and the Pews to Chairs project depends on the donation of chairs by cathedral parishioners, congregations, and individuals across The Episcopal Church in Southeast Florida and the wider Church. Chairs may be donated in honor of / in memory of a loved one or in honor of a specific church, congregation, or organization. Please consider donating one or more chairs!
To donate: Please download the chair donation form HERE, complete it, and make your check payable to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Please make sure to write “Pews to Chairs” in the memo line. Mail checks and forms to: Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 464 NE 16th Street, Miami, FL 33132.
Online donations can also be made on the Cathedral website (www.trinitymiami.org) under the “Giving” tab – please be sure to choose the “Pews to Chairs Campaign” on the dropdown menu to designate your donation.

Yoga is back! Starting September 25th at 6.15pm, join us for movement, breath work, and guided meditation in the Cathedral every Monday (except holidays). Combining the ancient Vedic practice of yoga with the intimacy of our sacred Christian space, Simon Strong from Tiger Eye Healing will lead yoga sessions offering a harmonious blend of physical movement, breathing techniques, sound bath and meditation exercises - to promote relaxation, overall well-being, and inner revelation!

We continue to pray for our Presiding Bishop, the Most Reverend Michael Curry, who was hospitalized again recently. He is recovering from surgery on September 20. An update on his health can be found here.
O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servant Michael the help of your power, that his sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Food Pantry Ministry
These are difficult times and many struggle to make ends meet. When you come on Sundays, please consider bringing one or more items of canned or boxed food. Items to consider include canned goods, peanut butter, packaged cereals, paper products, bottled water, dish and laundry soaps, boxed dinners, toiletry items, and feminine hygiene products. Remember that we cannot accept expired food or items that need refrigeration.
Gift Card Ministry
The LGBTQ+ ministry has organized an on-going Gift Card collection drive to aid in the purchase of perishable food items for food pantry recipients. These cards are distributed on a weekly basis to families and individuals in need.
