Praising God for the Gift You Are

By Pastor Andy

How often have you prayed to God, “Thank you for me”? It might seem selfish, but one of my favorite Bible passages, Psalm 139, gives us a beautiful template to praise God for the gift that each of us is. Sunday’s sermon started our Epiphany sermon series focusing on the Psalms, which speak to a wide array of life’s circumstances. Many of them, including Psalm 139, praise God. The fact that this psalm praises God for giving us ourselves isn’t self-centered—after all, it’s giving God the credit. And, even though we often think otherwise, God deserves a lot of credit when it comes to the truly wonderful works of God we are. In some of the most powerful, personal language in the entire Bible, Psalm 139 describes how well God knows us and how closely connected God is with us, even before birth and even through death. No wonder God provides for us, as Jesus emphasizes in Matthew 6. Each of us is worth so much to God. Don’t forget this the next time you look in the mirror. As the psalm tells us, you are wonderfully made, and God is sticking with you no matter what!

Joining Trinity Jan. 23: Jacci Peterson

It feels good to be coming back home! My husband, Greg, and I moved to Waupaca in 2012 and quickly joined Trinity. My daughter, Abby Stumke, 21, was confirmed here, and my son, Mason Stumke, 16, started Confirmation here before I took the church administrator position at The Lakes in 2020. I’m thrilled to be rejoining the Trinity family both as a member and starting Monday, Jan. 23, as your church administrator.

I spent 20-plus years in dentistry before I was called to serve our Lord and Savior. I look forward to working with you as together we strive to fulfill our mission to call people to Jesus; equip people with a faith that functions in daily life; and send people into the world in Jesus’ name.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, sewing, kayaking, checking out caves, and playing games.

I strive to live like Jesus daily. I’m a people person and look forward to catching up with old friends. I also love meeting new people, and if we don’t currently know each other, that’s OK; I know we will be fast friends! Feel free to stop by my office any time.

Honor or Remember Someone in 2023

Radio and altar flower sponsorships are now available for 2023. To sponsor a "Trinity Time" radio broadcast, which is especially appreciated by our homebound church members, contact the church office with your preferred date. As for altar flower openings, visit the entryway bulletin board to see the sign-up sheet or contact the church office. These are both great ways to honor a special person or event, or to remember a loved one.

The office staff welcomes any questions and will gladly assist with your sign-up date.
