Hymn Sing Sunday Is Back!

By Wanda Eikenbary

Director of Music Ministries

Back by popular request, we’re having a “hymn sing service” this Sunday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. This is your chance to pick hymns for all to sing together! The hymn sing will take place during the sermon portion of the service. Pastor Andy will lead into it by reading the Gospel and sharing a brief introduction. After that, the remaining sermon time will be designated for you to request hymns. Start thinking of your all-time favorites!

Those who raise their hands with hymn requests will be given a chance to share why they picked their particular hymn. To facilitate things, two “runners” will be stationed in the aisles. When you raise your hand a runner will come to you with a handheld microphone. Please use the microphone so that everyone in attendance (those in the Sanctuary and those watching online) will hear which hymn you chose and why you have a special connection to that hymn. Then we’ll all join in singing it together!

We hope you’ll enjoy this wonderful opportunity to share and sing your all-time favorite hymns. See you at worship on Sunday!

Trinity Craft Fair & Bake Sale

Trinity's Craft Fair & Bake Sale is this Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bake sale portion of the event is a fundraiser for the 2024 ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Trinity has 29 students and six adults going on this Faith Ventures trip! Let’s support them in any way we can!

Candy Bar Fundraiser

Only a little while left to support our Faith Ventures group with their candy bar fundraiser! Don't forget these candy bars make great stocking stuffers and tasty additions to baked goods. Thank you for all the support for helping us reach our goals for the Youth Gathering in New Orleans!

It's Not Too Late! Giving Challenges Extended!

Trinity thanks the many members who offered 2024 giving intentions on or before our target date of Nov. 13! We're within 20 intentions of last year's 164, many of which came in after last year's original deadline. With that, we're keeping the door open for more 2024 intentions. And, thankfully, if you haven't yet stated yours, our challenge givers are still willing to offer the promised twofold bonus to give your intended giving additional impact:

  • Challenge 1: Every intention helps! For every intention Trinity receives beyond the 164 intentions we received a year ago, a generous Trinity household will offer $100! With thanks especially to more than 30 households who offered intentions this year without such statements last year, we're now on the verge of this bonus kicking in! Special note, especially to encourage younger members: The challenge giver who will offer the first 10 $100 bonus gifts is under the age of 30!

  • Challenge 2: For those who offered giving intentions last year, your increased giving goes even farther! For any increase in intended giving that you indicate over last year’s giving intention, another generous Trinity household will match 10% of that increase! Let’s say you committed to giving $1,000 for 2023 on last year’s intention statement—a 2024 intention of $2,000 (an increase in $1,000) on this year’s intention statement will provide Trinity with an additional $100 (10% of your increase) from the challenge givers beyond your own increased giving! Thanks to your increases, we're already guaranteed more than $2,500 in gifts from this challenge, and, with dozens of households that offered intentions last year still to state their 2024 intentions, this total can grow!

If you haven't already shared your plans for 2024, please offer your giving intention electronically at tiny.cc/Intent2024 right away!

Trinity's Stewardship Team thanks you for responding generously, prayerfully, and joyfully to God’s blessings now and always!

Members of other area churches will gather with our community at Trinity next Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. for the Waupaca area's 12th annual ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve worship service. St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Waupaca Area Regional Ministry of the United Methodist Church, and Trinity are co-hosting the service, which will also stream live on Trinity's YouTube channel. The Chain O’ Lakes Ministerial Association has held an ecumenical service each Thanksgiving Eve since 2012. Please note the earlier time in place of Trinity's usual Wednesday-evening service. Continuing a new tradition established last year by the gracious members of St. Mary Magdalene, a pie social will follow. We hope you can join our combined community for this special worship opportunity!

Aid Those in Crisis in Israel & Gaza

Amid heartbreaking events in Gaza and Israel, a severe humanitarian crisis continues in the Holy Land. Our Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has a longstanding relationship with partners in the region, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land and Augusta Victoria Hospital. The ELCA's Lutheran Disaster Response has a history of providing support for our partners and will be prepared to answer calls for assistance when the time comes.

Gifts to Lutheran Disaster Response equip us to respond to this and other disasters, whenever and wherever they strike. Gifts online or in Trinity's offering plate designated for “Middle East Crisis" will be restricted to and used in full (100%) for those affected by disasters in the region. Click here to give or learn more.

You may also wish to give to Lutheran World Relief, which is likewise delivering urgently needed support and care to innocent civilians in Israel and Gaza.
