Midweek Lenten Services Continue Tonight

Lent at Trinity this year focuses especially on our Christian callings, with Wednesday Lenten services at 6:15 p.m. through next week, March 20, featuring messages from Trinity members about how they have found meaningful ministry in daily life. Tonight's service of "Holden Evening Prayer" features messages from Trinity member minister and longtime teacher Sue Harrington.

Tied to this sermon series is our six-week Lenten small-group study, "Lives of Meaning and Purpose." It's not too late to join the conversation as we consider people who are doing God's work in a variety of ways, even if they don't always recognize it. You might see your own purpose in a new light!

Weekly, one-hour group sessions are held:

  • 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays through March 26, in Trinity's upstairs Multipurpose Room and on Zoom at tiny.cc/MuffinMen (Guys, God & Muffins)
  • 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through March 26, on Zoom at tiny.cc/Gather24 (led by Pastor Mark Ziemer)
  • 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays through March 27, in the Multipurpose Room and on Zoom at tiny.cc/Gather24 (led by Jacci Peterson)
  • 9 a.m. Thursdays through March 28, in the Multipurpose Room and on Zoom at tiny.cc/Gather24 (led by Pastor Andy Behrendt)
  • 10:15 a.m. Sundays through March 24, in the Multipurpose Room and on Zoom at tiny.cc/Gather24 (led by Chuck Reynolds)

Upstairs Carpeting to Be Replaced This Month

You've likely noticed some changes on the edges of Trinity's upstairs Connection Room, where work began late last year taking out a windowed wall and recarpeting the old library for expanded gathering space. New carpet and paint meanwhile renewed our Badger Street stairway.

A more noticeable step is now upon us, with carpeting in the upstairs hallway about to be removed and replaced. Pardon our dust as we freshen up! No worries about Holy Week and Easter, as things will be all cleaned up and looking better than ever by then! Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding this Sunday.

After Easter, you'll see new laminate flooring take the place of the departing carpet deeper into the Connection Room for our revitalized coffee area. Many thanks are due to the generous household providing the funds for this much-anticipated project!

Remembering Beloved Trinity Members

Bonnie Pegel, an active leader of many Trinity ministries, died Friday, Feb. 23, the day before what would have been her 72nd birthday. Bonnie's memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Trinity after visitation from 9 to 11. You can click here to attend the service via video. The obituary for Bonnie M. Pegel is available here from Holly Funeral Home. Please hold Bonnie's husband, Steve, and her many family members and friends in prayer.

Longtime Trinity member Larry Smith died Monday, March 4, at age 83. Larry's memorial service was Monday, March 11, and is available online here. Please keep Larry's wife, Annetta, and their family and friends in your prayers, that God would comfort them with the promise of new life in Christ. You can click here to read the obituary for Larry G. Smith from Maple Crest Funeral Home.

Trinity member Jan Johnson, who actively served our congregation and community in many ways over the course of more than 50 years, died Monday, March 4, at age 83. Please pray for Jan's husband, Bob, and their family and friends, that God would tend to them amid their grief. Jan's memorial service was yesterday, March 12, and can be viewed here. You can also click here to read the obituary for Janice C. Johnson from Holly Funeral Home and see Jan's memorable sermon from last month here.

Our prayers are with those of you mourning these and other recent losses. God bless you.

This Saturday: 'Good Boundaries and Goodbyes' Study

Trinity's past conversation partners in Milwaukee and Tomahawk have invited our community to join theirs for a monthly Zoom conversation based on Lysa Terkeurst’s book, Good Boundaries and Goodbyes.

After thousands of hours of counseling intensives and inner wrestling with Jesus’ statement, “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34), Terkeurst learned that good boundaries pave the road for the truest version of love to emerge within relationships.

Grace Lutheran, a rural, white congregation in Tomahawk, and Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist, a Black church in central-city Milwaukee, have been engaging in such conversations and retreats for more than 10 years. Renewing past online conversations with Trinity, they invite Trinity to join them in a once-a-month Zoom conversation. This is part of a larger effort to build deeper relationships between the American Baptist Churches of Wisconsin and congregations in our synod.

Conversations take place on Zoom on the third Saturday of each month. This month it will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16. Contact Pastor Mark Ziemer if you want the specifics of what will be discussed. Join the Zoom discussion at this shortcut: tiny.cc/Boundaries24.

Those who take part in Good Family Friday will walk along a path with stations that will help them remember all the parts of Holy Week. We will be at Pine Lake Camp from 3 to 5 p.m. on March 29. Our journey will start at the Chapel where we will get a map and instructions for what to do. We hope to see you there!
