2023 was a transformational year in the life of Trinity! Thank you for being part of it.

Read all about it here in our 2023 Annual Report - hot off the press today and full of good news!

... Or get your printed copy at the Annual Congregational Meeting, tomorrow, January 28th.

Trinity, there is a place for you.

You are invited to our annual Parish Breakfast

from 8:45am tomorrow - Sunday, January 28th - followed by our

Annual Congregational Meeting beginning at 9:10am, Cox Hall.

Home baking of breakfast sweet and savory treats has begun in Cox Hall… the smells around the campus are divine!

We're excited to give you a quick preview into

just some of what we have coming up at Trinity

during the first few months of 2024! ...

On Sunday, February 4th, at our 10:30 am service we'll celebrate the Feast of Candlemas (also known as the Feast of the Presentation or the Feast of the Purification of Mary).

Music of Bach and Mozart will be offered by soloists and choir, accompanied by strings and organ, and will include the singing of the Nunc dimittis. Read more about the musical traditions behind this beautiful celebration in this great article from Dan Miller, our Director of Music Ministries & Organist...

Celebrating CandlemasRead the article in full here

You are invited to a special Tea & Conversation event on Sunday, February 4th, 3:15 pm, at Gulick House, to celebrate the Feast of Candlemas. All are welcome!

We've introduced services of both Morning and Evening Prayer at Trinity as follows:

Each Monday: Morning Prayer, 9:00am

Each Monday: Evening Prayer, 4:45pm

Each Thursday: Morning Prayer, 9:00am.

Each Thursday: Evening Prayer, 4:45pm.

This short, spoken service takes place in the side chapel of Trinity Church and lasts no longer than 15 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.

We hope that these additional times of prayer will help to further bring a sense of focus for God's work here and to provide a rhythm to daily life and work at Trinity, which is not only a place of worship and pilgrimage for many, but a place of work, and home to several people who live on campus.

The sacrament of Baptism is being offered at our 10:30am Eucharist service on Sunday, February 11th. If you or someone you know would like to explore Baptism or be included within this service on 2/11 please give us a call at the Parish Office. 540.592.3343.

Our ever-popular Pancake Supper takes place on Shrove Tuesday, February 13th, 6:30pm, at Cox Hall.

Come along for an evening of delicious food and great fun! All are welcome. Free admission.

Take an incredible journey through Lent, Holy Week, & Easter...

Start out by joining us on Ash Wednesday, February 14th, at 12:00noon.

Youth Confirmation preparation classes start on Ash Wednesday, February 14th, 6:00pm. Come along to find out more! We begin with a short and simple Ash Wednesday service (with imposition of ashes) followed by an introductory session and an opportunity to ask your questions. Classes will continue through Lent and conclude post-Easter and we hope will include an overnight retreat in mid-May!

Adult confirmation / reception classes begin a little later (after Easter)... more details to follow soon.

If you are interested in being Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church please contact our Families & Outreach Director here or at the Parish Office on 540.592.3343.

Concert date & time now confirmed!

We're excited to welcome back our good friend and social media's favorite concert organist Lukas Hasler!

Lukas will join us for another amazing concert on Saturday, February 17th, 7:30pm, at Trinity, and will join us for worship on Sunday, February 18th. Concert pieces will include Bach, Liszt and Boëllmann. Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be taken and we invite your generous donations.

Many of you will recall Lukas from previous visits especially his 2022 visit with the PaltenKlang Choir. Lukas Hasler (born 1996) currently lives and works as a doctoral student at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. More details to follow! Save the date!

Our former choir section leader, Julian Baldwin, is giving a recital at Trinity, on February 24th, 2024 at 7:00 pm.

SOLITUDE - a recital on the human condition. Featuring Julian Baldwin, tenor & piano accompanist.

Local tenor and Shenandoah University alum Julian Baldwin presents a classical voice recital on the human condition in the modern world. The program features rarely performed Lieder by Franz Schubert, Arnold Schoenberg and Richard Strauss, 20th century French melody by Francis Poulenc and Erik Satie, and a contemporary American song cycle by composer Tom Cipullo, entitled Another Reason Why I Don’t Keep a Gun in the House. The program varies in style from the lush to the somber, the joyful to the profound, and the serious to the just plain silly.

We're thrilled to announce that from Thursday, February 29th through Monday, March 11th, we're welcoming a very special guest as "Priest-in-Residence"!

Rev. Mark Lawson Jones, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Archbishop of Canterbury, joins us here at Trinity and will share with us about life at Lambeth Palace, working with the Archbishop of Canterbury, and more! The Rev Mark will be our guest preacher on Sunday, March 3rd at all services, and will also lead a special Adult Formation session that day.

Rev. Mark has previously enjoyed a varied and fascinating ministry both in rural and urban parish settings and as a senior seaports chaplain. In addition, he is part owner of a publishing company and an author of several books. He is a Welshman with a passion for Welsh history and all things Welsh! During his time with us we will commemorate St. David's Day (March 1st) and to celebrate the patron saint of Wales and to welcome Mark to Trinity we're planning a very special evening event for the whole Trinity family - more details to follow!

NOTICE BOARD

@ TRINITY

This is formal notice that the Annual Congregational Meeting of Trinity Episcopal Church, Upperville, VA, will take place on Sunday, January 28th, 2024, at 9:00am, at Cox Hall, Trinity Church.

At this meeting we will receive the Annual Report, receive presented reports from the Rector, Wardens & Treasurer, and vote to elect candidates to the Vestry as the class of 2026.

You will find biographical information about the candidates standing for election to Vestry here. Please pray for those standing for election, encourage and support them, and do take the opportunity to ask them questions about their hopes and dreams for the future of God's work here.

Please note that to vote at the Annual Congregational Meeting you need to be a registered member of Trinity Episcopal Church, in good standing with the Church Treasurer, and your date of baptism needs to be recorded within our records. If you are unsure if you are entitled to vote please contact the Trinity Church Office as soon as possible to ensure that you provided all the information you need to be included on the register of voters. Thank you.

We apologies for the additional speakers and wires now in place in the church (they will remain in place until at least the end of March). Our sound system (which was already scheduled for a major upgrade) has failed and we have a temporary system in place until a new installation is complete.

If you would like to help towards the costs of the new sound system please give to our Renew & Restore capital campaign here. We continue to invite your support and gifts to our capital campaign as further projects are added to the list of works that are required here at Trinity, and as costs continue to rise. If you have yet to make a gift to Renew & Restore please give today! Thank you.

Are you All-In @ Trinity for 2024?

All-In for Stewardship is our 2024 Stewardship Campaign @ Trinity!

Everyone should now have received a pledge information pack either in person at church or through the mail. We're now asking everyone to return a completed 2024 pledge form as soon as possible so that we can begin 2024 with certainty and confidence in our annual budget. Please note that we still need you to complete a new 2024 Pledge Form even if you have simply rolled on your automated online giving over from 2023. Thank you.

In your pack you'll find a reflection from Fr. Jonathan on what it might mean to be "All-In" at Trinity; some great testimonials from some of our generous givers; amazing facts and figures about the difference your giving is making here; a helpful article looking at what is actually means to "make a pledge"; and a step-by-step guide to Pushpay our online church giving and management system.

You can read your digital copy of our All-in for Stewardship brochure here.

You can make your 2024 pledge online, in writing, or in person. Make your pledge here and make sure you're all in at Trinity for 2024!

Trinity, there is a place for you.

Please be aware that major construction work is continuing at a number of locations at Trinity and extra care should be taken at all times when on the Trinity campus or within the buildings.

Thank you for your cooperation and support during these significant developments and improvements at Trinity.

Look out for our new style welcome cards which you'll find in each pew and at the back of the church. If you're new at Trinity, please complete a card and place it in the offering plate or hand it to one of our church greeters as you leave the service. That way we can connect with you and formally welcome you and your family to Trinity and answer any questions you might have. Trinity, there is a place for you.

We're pleased to announce that we're now able to accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express card payments at the Parish Office for payment of general goods and services.

Please note that this does not concern financial gifts and giving which should continue to be given in the usual ways, if at all possible, using our online PushPay service. Thank you.
