Trinity Messenger

March 2, 2026

Many thanks to the Rev. Link Hullar who celebrated Mass with us this past Sunday. We enjoy his sermons that are bookended by songs!

Please join us for Morning Prayer on Sunday March 8 at 9am: Bobby Naher will lead this service, and Tiffany Santiago is preaching.

William Shakespeare was not referring to the Trinity choir - but he could have been! Under the direction of Tim, our choir members Alicia, Jessica, and Newlin deliver a beautiful sound that fills our big church every week. Many thanks to them for sharing their gift of music!

Adult Formation Schedule

We continue to discuss brief readings from Following the Call: Living the Sermon on the Mount.

To get a PDF copy of the readings, please email Bobby Naeher at robertnaeher@gmail.com. We also have paper copies available each week.

All are welcome, and completing the reading ahead of time, while helpful, is not a requirement. We all benefit when multiple voices are heard!

HEALING PRAYERS will be offered up on the third Sunday service of every month. During communion, Mary and Naomi will be available at the side altars for prayers and the laying on of hands for anyone who walks up to them.

We appreciate Mary and Naomi for bringing this tradition back to Trinity!

A Suggestion for Lenten Meditations

Written by Sister Monica Clare, an Episcopal nun, author and unlikely TikTok star, their 2026

meditations offer an invitation to rediscover — or deepen — holy habits of prayer, worship and

engagement with Scripture. These "holy habits" provide a path to a life that is given shape,

meaning and direction by being rooted in a deeper relationship with God.

It’s free and Sister Monica Clare is a wonderfully easing presence, even on screen!

A TALE OF TWO TRINITIES

As you know, we are working with Trinity Lime Rock to hire a full-time Priest In-Charge who can split their hours between the two Trinities. Curious to learn more about Trinity Lime Rock? Consider one or more of the following suggestions.

Visit their website.

Attend one of their services, either Morning Prayer at 8am or Holy Eucharist at 10:30am. Trinity Lime Rock is about 30 minutes northwest of Trinity Torrington; it's a pretty drive on Route 63 through Goshen. Maybe bring another friend or two from Trinity Torrington, introduce yourselves when you get there, and meet some really nice people at Trinity Lime Rock! Include time to stay after the 10:30 service for a rock-solid Coffee Hour with the Owl, which allows folks from home to interact with people at the church. They also live-stream their service, so you can watch from the comfort of your home (just like at our Trinity).

Read their 2025 Annual Report and see the many ways that they are similar to Trinity Torrington.

Read their newsletter [Editor's Note: it's enviably good], and consider attending an event at their church. Consider subscribing to their newsletter if you want to keep up to date with Trinity Lime Rock. [Editor's Note: did I mention that their newsletter is enviably good?]

Finally, keep them in your prayers! Their priest of 17 years - the Rev. Heidi Truax - just retired. We know what it feels like to be without a pastor, and we are confident that 2026 will be a year of growth for them, in numerous (and often unexpected) ways.

And CRESCENDO is performing at Trinity Lime Rock this week...

Crescendo is an award-winning chorale based out of Trinity Lime Rock, where they often perform (similar to our past relationship with Chorus Angelicus). Please check the Crescendo website for information about all their concerts. There you can read about the artists and order your tickets.  Here are some details about three upcoming concerts at Trinity Lime Rock.

"La Cecchina" on March 7, 2026.

Choral Latin America on April 25, 2026.

Bach's Motets in Concert on May 31, 2026.

Come for worship- stay for dinner or just come for dinner- your choice. All are welcome!

In lieu of a ticket price for dinner, we welcome your generous donation at the table. All proceeds will go to the CW Campership Fund, offering need-based financial assistance to our campers & retreatants.

Registration is required - click here.

Gather your family, organize a parish carpool, or extend an invitation to a neighbor and make plans to join us at camp.

Editor's Addition - - - Please consider attending the Evening Worship and Community Dinner at Camp Washington on Saturday March 7. Conrad, Lydia, Caroline and Ella attended the most recently one in January and they all had a great time! The Rev. Tuesday Rupp leads a beautiful service (with a very talented guitarist) in the lodge at 5pm. After the service, we move to the dining hall where chef Ben Thompson serves a delicious meal - this month, it's an Irish feast! It's a wonderful way to feed your soul and your stomach! Contact Conrad with questions or to ask about a carpool.

COFFEE HOUR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We definitely need some people to step forward and host Coffee Hour. It's very easy and very appreciated! Just sign up for a date, then bring in some snacks (home-made or store-bought), set up the table, percolate percolate percolate, then clean up.

If you have any questions, please ask Ella, Tiffany or Richard. The sign-up is in the Upper Parish Hall.

If you gave up bacon for Lent,

you can still attend Men's Breakfast

Saturday March 21 at 9am

at Twin Colony Diner.

See Conrad with questions.

Our Culture is Beautiful Movie + Talk

Join us at Trinity Church Saturday March 21 at 1pm for a viewing of a 1997 film about a rebellion aboard a slave ship, followed by a discussion led by members of Our Culture is Beautiful. This event is free but donations are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

Do you have a name badge? With different clergy and new people visiting Trinity, it is a great time to wear your Trinity name badge!

If you need a badge, please print your name clearly on the clipboard in the back of the church, and Mel will make one for you.

In the Land o' Goshen...
