Many thanks to the Rev. Jim Wheeler who led our Palm Sunday service yesterday.
And thanks, too, to Ella and Vinnie for bringing a delicious Love It Vegan carrot cake to the Coffee Hour for Conrad's 60th liturgical birthday!
[Editor's Note: your liturgical birthday is simply the day you were born on according to the church calendar. Conrad was born on April 3 in 1966, which was Palm Sunday, so his liturgical birthday is Palm Sunday, which fell on March 29 this year. Everyone can celebrate a liturgical birthday; just Google "church calendar" with the month and year of your birth, and you can see your birthday on the church calendar. ]

Please join them on one or both days if you can assist them in making Trinity the most beautiful church in Torrington! | |
Adult Formation
We continue to discuss brief readings from Following the Call: Living the Sermon on the Mount.
April 5 - no Adult Formation
April 12 - Reading 45: Judging Others
April 19 - Reading 46: Ask, Seek, Knock
April 26 - Reading 47: The Golden Rule
May 3 - Reading 48: Two Ways
May 10 - Reading 49: False Prophets
May 17 - Reading 50: Lord, Lord

"SHE'S CRAFTY!"
Look who bumped into each other unexpectedly! That's Trinity (Torrington) Vestry clerk Naomi Cardello with Trinity (Lime Rock) Junior Warden Cheryl Duntz, showing off their handmade crafts at a recent crushed glass class at the Brush and Pallet in Torrington.
Given how busy these two Trinitarians are at their respective churches, it was surprising that they had time for some self-care and creative recreation.
Now back to work, ladies!
| |
Speaking of the two Trinities, some folks at Trinity Lime Rock reached out to us here at Trinity Torrington to discuss a creative way to support the Community Kitchen of Torrington.
Trinity Lime Rock has generously purchased some food shares at Conundrum Farm in Kent. This fresh produce will then be delivered weekly to the Community Kitchen by Produce to the People.
It's a great link between the two Trinities, and it benefits the Community Kitchen.
Thank you, Trinity Lime Rock!

A TALE OF TWO TRINITIES
As you know, we are working with Trinity Lime Rock to hire a full-time Priest In-Charge who can split their hours between the two Trinities. Curious to learn more about Trinity Lime Rock? Consider one or more of the following suggestions.
Visit their website.
Attend one of their services, either Morning Prayer at 8am or Holy Eucharist at 10:30am, followed by Coffee Hour.
Read their 2025 Annual Report and see the many ways that they are similar to Trinity Torrington.
Read their newsletter, and consider attending an event at their church.
Finally, keep them in your prayers! Their priest of 17 years - the Rev. Heidi Truax - recently retired. We know what it feels like to be without a pastor, and we are confident that 2026 will be a year of growth for them, in numerous (and often unexpected) ways.

DON'T GET SCAMMED!!
This editor recently received the following email:
Do you have a moment I have a request I need you to handle discreetly. I am currently busy in a prayer session, no calls so just reply my email
Rev. Carrie Combs
Trinity Episcopal Church
220 Prospect Street, Torrington, CT 06790
The grammar was poor. The sender often says, "Don't call me" because the scammer's voice does not sound like the Rev. Carrie's voice. I looked at the email it came from: it was revmail55998@gmail.com, but that is not the Rev. Carrie's genuine email address. I emailed the Rev. Carrie (via her true email address) to let her know that this scam was making the rounds.
If you think you have received a bogus email - from anyone - do not reply to the email, but call or text that person to ask them if they sent you the email in question.

COFFEE HOUR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We definitely need some people to step forward and host Coffee Hour. It's very easy and very appreciated! Just sign up for a date, then bring in some snacks (home-made or store-bought), set up the table, percolate percolate percolate, then clean up.
If you have any questions, please ask Ella, Tiffany or Richard. The sign-up is in the Upper Parish Hall.

Dear Trinity family,
Many thanks for the meals, dinner gift cards, and prayers that you have generously given us as Lydia recuperates from her March 17th surgery. Her doctor said it went "fantastic," and he said things were worse than they appeared on the scans, so he was glad to go in there and fix things up.
While she has been housebound for the most part, Lydia has recently been walking around our block once or twice a day. She misses her Trinity family but has enjoyed some very pleasant visits at our home.
She enjoyed seeing folks at church on Palm Sunday and looks forward to seeing you again at the Easter Vigil!
Peace + Patience,
Lydia + Conrad

Our Culture is Beautiful Movie + Talk
On March 21, we had a viewing of the powerful 1997 film AMISTAD, followed by a discussion led by members of Our Culture is Beautiful.
On Saturday April 18, we will show a 2025 film which set a record with 16 Academy Award nominations. With this film, Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman to receive an Academy Award for cinematography.
This movie explores themes of racism, relationships, ancestors, music, and history. It is Rated R for language and violence - it gets bloody, so be prepared!
This event is free and fresh popcorn will be served.
