Letters from Our Episcopal Leaders

As we continue to process the results of the 2024 election, with joy, trepidation, exhaustion, or any other valid emotion, please take the time to read the perspectives of some of our Episcopal leaders which center us in our mission as Jesus followers in the world:

Letter from our Connecticut Bishops regarding the 2024 U.S. Election (November 5)

Letter from Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe on the U.S. presidential election (November 6)

Together in Christ: A Letter from the President of the House of Deputies, Julia Ayala Harris (November 6)

A NEW FORMATION SERIES STARTED ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 10!

We started a new formation series on Sunday, November 10, on the Sermon on the Mount or the Beatitudes. We use "Following the Call: Living the Sermon on the Mount Together," edited by Charles E. Moore, as a springboard for our discussions. "Following the Call" is a collection of short meditations on various aspects of the Beatitudes by a range of theologians and Christian thinkers such writers as Augustine St. Francis of Assissi, Henri Nouen, Dorothy Sayers, Dorothy Day, Meister Eckhart, Soren Kierkegaard, and many others.

We are currently scheduled for November 17 and December 8, and will decide at that point as a group if we'd like to continue with this series.

We hope you can join us, even if you did not attend the first discussion.

Thanksgiving at Camp Washington!

Join us for a Thanksgiving Celebration with delicious food and the exceptional hospitality you have come to expect at Camp Washington.

Join us for one night, two, or just for Thanksgiving day and dinner. Come with family, friends, or come alone and make new friends. Relax by the fire, participate in worship, go for a hike, do a puzzle, read a book, or just simply be. Leave the holiday stress behind.

Come away to Camp Washington and begin a new Thanksgiving tradition.

RESCHEDULED!! A Legislative Round-table addressing Homelessness at the Torrington Library with Area Legislators - Friday November 22 at 9am.

The CT Coalition to End Homelessness and the NW CAN (Coordinated Access Network) are hosting a round-table conversation focused on addressing homelessness in our greater community. This event will bring together homeless service providers, local community partners and leaders, and community action residents for a discussion about our collective work to solve homelessness - with our area Legislators. Last year's event was very informational and eye opening. Sarah Fox, CEO of the CT Coalition to End Homelessness, and State Representative Jay Case, will be among our presenters.

SAVE THE DATE: Sunday November 24

On Sunday November 24, some staff from the Y will speak to us about the Overflow Shelter and answer questions that parishioners might have. This will be held during Coffee Hour in the UPH.

We'll be holding another directory photo day for those who couldn't make the first one. It will be on Sunday December 1 during and after coffee hour. See Alicia or Mother Carrie with any questions!

And for those unable to attend for whatever reason, feel free to email a current photo of yourself to clergy@trinity-torrington.org so she can save along with the other photos we've taken. Thanks!

Save the date: December 14 is a Chorus Angelicus concert at Trinity Church, Torrington. Details to follow.
