Sunday School Update

Sunday school will not meet this Sunday, February 16th due to the federal holiday on Monday.

Sunday school classes will resume on February 23rd.

For those who signed up, don’t forget the performance of “Seussical the Musical” at Riverside Theater on Saturday, February 22nd.

Thank you,

Sam Burton

Drop-In Grief Support Group

February's Grief Support Group meets again on Monday, February 17th in the Lounge at Trinity from 10:30 - noon.

Anyone grieving a significant loss is warmly invited to attend. We are all on our individual journeys in life. Yet, when we are grieving we may need a safe place to pause, to tell our stories, and to receive support and strength in order to continue along our way.

Parking is available in the William Street parking lot, and entrance is by the far door from the front of the building. Dress is casual. For more information contact Randall Clingenpeel at (540) 207-0600. Should inclement weather occur, call Randall to see if the meeting is on.

Trinity Café Update

Trinity Café will be closed on Sunday, February 23rd and will resume regular hours the following week.

Update From The Discernment Committee

Thank you to all who took the time to respond to our survey and pew questions.

If you have not yet had a chance to give your input, or you thought of something you would like to add, please reach out to one of us, or leave your comments in the church office with “Discernment Committee”  written on it and someone will put it in our box.

During the month of February, we will be reviewing responses, analyzing survey data and determining what, if any other information, we would need to complete our Church Ministry Portfolio, which tells prospective candidates who we are and our goals for the future.

Please continue to keep The committee members in your prayers as we move through the discernment process.

Thank you,

Anne, Dick, Jim, Karen, Kathleen, Matt and Tim

Black History Month Challenge

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Let the Good Times Roll!

Come and enjoy Trinity’s traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner on March 4th from 5:30 to 7pm in Barber Hall.  Along with pancakes, the menu will include bacon and sausage. Take out will be an option for those who prefer not to do in-house meals. All proceeds support Trinity’s Brotherhood of Saint Andrew outreach activities.

Lectio Divina Small Group for Lent

I find that Christians often forget that Jesus was a Jew.   Most biblical scholars agree that Jesus’ intention was not to create a new religion, but rather to show us a “way” to live more fully in love with each other and with our God.     In this Lectio series I want to use scripture from the Hebrew Bible that talks about the Messiah and then move into New Testament readings as well.  The practice of Lectio Divina (divine reading) is easy.   It is a way to engage with scripture in a very personal way.  You can’t make a mistake.

Our group will meet for six weeks on Thursday mornings from 10-11:30 am in the Lounge beginning March 6th and ending April 10th.  On Thursday, March 20th we will have a pot luck Shabbat lunch together in Barber Hall with appropriate prayers and food.

In the Jewish tradition, a Shabbat dinner is prepared on Friday evening as a remembrance of the day God rested after the Creation.   It also marks the start of a day of rest and worship for observant Jews.   Since we won’t be together for dinner let’s plan a Shabbat lunch as a way to honor the Jewish roots of Jesus.   It is likely he would have shared many Shabbat dinners with his family and friends.

Come to the Lectio group as you are able.

Registration is not required and all you need to bring is an open heart and mind.

Prayer Partners for Lent 2025

Wow, over one hundred of you agreed to be a prayer partner during Lent. What a great result!

We are currently creating a database of names and beginning the computer matching process (sounds a bit like a dating service.)  Once complete we will generate a brief letter with your name and the name of your prayer partner. Arranged alphabetically by your last name, the envelopes with these letters will be available for pickup in the narthex. Keep an eye out for when the envelopes will be ready for pickup.

Each week during Lent I will put a sample prayer in the Sunday bulletin that you might want to use when you pray for your partner. It is up to you. Pray in whatever way feels right for you.

Mark your calendar for the Reveal Party luncheon in Barber Hall on Sunday, April 27th after the 10:30 am service. Come and meet the person who has been praying for you during Lent.

Coldest Night of the Year

It is that time of the year when the homeless in our community are experiencing particularly great hardship.

Trinity will be participating in this family-friendly CNOY walk again this year to help raise funds for the Micah Ecumenical Ministry. This is their 3rd year, and we have participated since the beginning.

The walk is being held on February 22nd and consists of a 5K or 2K option. Please consider joining our team, and/or donating to the team. It is a wonderful way of helping our homeless community in Fredericksburg.

Walk is at 5:00 with check in at Riverfront Park from 4:00-5:00. Participants can either walk the I mile or the 3 mile route.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch at (540) 226-6164, or email bradshawdok@gmail.com

Is Your Pet A Trinity Star?

The Animal Welfare Ministry wants to feature Trinity pets and their owners. If you would like to highlight your pet, please send a photo and a paragraph about the animal to Claire at curciocc@msn.com. We'd especially like to feature Trinity children and their pets.

Micah Cold Weather

Volunteer Opportunities

Cold Weather Shelter - Micah is operating a Men’s and Women’s Cold Weather Shelter this winter season and could use a few more volunteers to help there. The shelter is only open on nights that are projected to be 32 F or below or very adverse winter weather conditions. Please contact Cory Gudowicz at cory.gudo@gmail.com for more information about volunteering at either the Men’s or Women’s Shelter.

Micah Breakfast - On Fridays, November 15th-March 15th, when the overnight temperature is below freezing, our neighbors at Micah will be coming to Trinity breakfast. We have planned simple menus, and have a great core of volunteers ready to help, but we need you.

We need more volunteers to help with this very important ministry. If you can help prepare or serve our simple breakfasts, or visit with the guests, please contact Claire Curcio at curciocc@msn.com or Cory Gudowicz at cory.gudo@gmail.com If you can help with this important ministry.

UPDATE 2/4

Blessings in a Backpack:

Food is a School Supply!

Blessings in a Backpack is back at work in 2025 for Rocky Run Elementary School deliveries of 90 bags of nutritious food weekly for their students who have food insecurity on the weekends. We have packed and distributed 270 bags so far.

Once again, we thank our Trinitarians and our Trinity Vestry for your generous support of this mission.

Thanks to your generosity, we currently have $2,733.18 as we enter 2025. We have ordered and received $2,970.72 worth of Optimum Food packets to see us through February and the first week of March. We will need to order $3,505.84 worth of more food packets to see us through the school year ending in June. Please keep giving generously. We also include macaroni and cheese boxes in what we pack which costs $87.84 per week.

Food is a school supply to get Rocky Run Elementary School children to their Mondays well fed and ready to learn.

We depend on your financial contributions with checks in the collection plate marked BIB and by donations made on our Trinity website at www.trinity-fredericksburg.org through our Online Giving (accessacs.com) portal. Thank you again for keeping this vital mission going!
