Church on the Lawn starts at 10:30 am. Please plan to arrive at check-in by 10:15 so the ushers can seat you. If your mobility needs require extra time, please be at check-in by 10:10.

Please bring your own lawn chair. If you need assistance with your chair, there will be people able to assist you. You will be sitting with people in your own “germ bubble”, and spaced six feet apart from others.

If we need to cancel because of cold temperatures or precipitation, we will notify you via email, and will post a notice on Facebook by 6:00 am.

Our 8:30 am service will continue to be on Facebook Live. Just a reminder: You can watch Facebook Live without an account. Click here for instructions. The service will be available later in the day on YouTube at

Book Review from the Task Force to Plan to Dismantle Racism

The Black Friend: On Being a Better White Person, by Frederick Joseph
This book is written for young adults, ages 12 -17, but adults can certainly benefit from reading it as well. Writing from the perspective of a friend, Frederick Joseph offers candid reflections on his own experiences with racism as a transfer student in a largely white high school, his college experiences, and beyond, and conversations with prominent artists and activists about theirs—creating an essential read for white people who are committed anti-racists and those newly come to the cause of racial justice. The book also includes an encyclopedia of racism that provides details on historical events and terminology.
A Message from Stephanie Gurnsey Higgins, Minister for Diocesan Development and Congregational Stewardship Stephanie

As we look back over the past year, it has been extraordinary and challenging for us all. In spite everything, we have faithfully carried on with our mission to seek and serve God in all persons loving our neighbor as ourselves. Your loyal support for the mission and ministry of the Diocese of Virginia does not go unnoticed. Thank you.

As we move forward, would you like to continue to walk with us to meet the needs of people in our communities throughout the Diocese of Virginia? Your gifts to your congregation makes an immediate and lasting difference in the lives of those who are hungry, tired, and sick. Please help us do all we can as work together for the good of all people.
