Presbyterian College (PC) Welcomes New Chaplain
and Dean of Spiritual Life
Rev. Dr. Searcy Allen “Buz” Wilcoxon IV ‘05 will serve as PC’s first Marianne and E.G. Lassiter Chaplain and Dean of Spiritual Life.

“For this vital cabinet-level position, we sought a widely admired leader who brings tremendous charisma, interpersonal skills, and energy, as well as an ardent commitment to PC’s history, values, and strategic vision,” said PC's President, Dr. Matthew vandenBerg. “Buz emerged from an impressive pool of candidates during our national search, and I believe he is ideally suited to help fortify PC’s status as America’s Presbyterian college.”

Migrant Ministry
Trinity Presbytery's 2022 Migrant Ministry Program is winding down, but the many memories of the good food, Christian fellowship and Bible study remain, not only with the 160 migrant workers, but with all who volunteered their time or financially supported this ministry through the Father's Day Offering.

Barradas were awarded the highest rank in Boy Scouts, the Eagle. Juan and Christian began their long Scouting journey toward Eagle at Bethany Presbyterian Church and completed it at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church. To meet the Eagle requirement of leading a significant service project, Christian led a group at the Lydia Presbyterian Church in repairing a handicap ramp, trimming hedges, removing weeds from cracks in the pavement in the parking lot, and replacing lightbulbs in the high sanctuary ceiling. Juan led a group at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church in sanding and painting major church signs, trimming hedges, filling hazardous holes in the lawn, and clearing poison ivy from the cemetery.
The award ceremony at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church included a number of other Scouts being cited for achievements and several local leaders receiving certificates of appreciation for their support of Scouting

Abbeville County Men (ACM) Meetings
Abbeville County has a Men's Fellowship Group that meets the second Tuesday evening of each month [at 6:30 p.m.]. Men from churches within the county, and some in Greenwood County, gather for an evening meal at the Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church.

The Presbyterian congregations with members participating are as follows: Abbeville Presbyterian Church, Hodges Presbyterian Church, Little Mountain Presbyterian Church, and Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Members of the group have taken on house repair projects for those in the surrounding community unable to pay the costs involved. In addition to the delicious meals, those present receive devotionals and spiritual food from various members.

This trip was different in that the whole team stayed in Juba-in part because it is the rainy season and rural airports are sporadically open. There are 5 of us- 2 women.

We delivered 400 talking Bibles to leaders who will invite 6-10 to listen.

We delivered in Arabic, Dinka, Nuer, Murle, Tenet, Shillook, Anyuak. We met with translators and the Bible Soviety of Juba. We met representatives of the PCOSS and a splinter group. We visited an IDP UN Canp.  We preached in 5 churches and talked in 12. God has been good. We have passed all the Covid tests and He has used us to do good medically too. Rev. Orozu, our host has malaria and flew to Ethiopia for treatment. We met with local partners and Rev James, head of the South Sudan Council of Churches, along with 14 other meetings. Pray we have a safe trip tomorrow.
