Dr. Kay Sandor

Dr. Kay Sandor is a retired professor from UTMB School of Nursing and a retired psychotherapist (LPC) from her private practice. She is currently a Board Certified Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHN-BC) and a scholar in the Global Academy of Holistic Nurses. Although she has many professional credentials, Dr. Sandor says her highest credentials are Mom and Certified Texas Master Gardener. She loves sailing, gardening, watercolor painting, and star-gazing. When she learned the Mars Society was recruiting participants for their desert research program—she had a deep conversation with Gary and then she applied. Imagine her surprise when she received an offer to join an international crew about 6 months later. Let’s hear her talk about her trip to Mars! (Mars Desert Research Station-MDRS).

This event is free and includes a light lunch, but please RSVP for food preparation.

Good news! The Trade Edition of The Saint John’s Bible has been delivered to Trinity! The seven volumes arrived late last week and are in the process of being unpacked by our Priest in Charge, The Rev. Chase Bradley. They reside in the Kelso Annex for now, and he will decide where their permanent home will be. Also delivered were two books about this Bible, including its history, theology, text, and illuminations. These books are excellent guides to reading and understanding the art and faith represented in this Bible. 

We are familiar with the Heritage Edition, the large volumes which are set out every Sunday on either side of the baptismal font. The books of the Trade Edition are somewhat smaller than those of the Heritage Edition, but they are sufficiently large to show the details in the illuminations and text. They are also considerably less expensive that those of the Heritage Edition, having been initially designed for home use. However, they are also considerably lighter than those of the Heritage Edition, making them easier to carry in procession and the reading of the Gospel during Sunday services. 

On this past Sunday, Trinity Sunday, our parish’s Feast of Title and 185th Anniversary (we have the t-shirts to prove it!), the Gospels and Acts volume was used for the reading of the Gospel at both services. The brilliant red cover stood out prominently on the altar before and after the Gospel was read. 

We are all familiar with the beautiful Bible from which the Gospel is also read during Sunday services, and the Trade Edition is not meant to replace but to accompany it. Chase and Jimmy will decide when it is appropriate to use either one, and we will be able to hear The Good News from two lovely sources.

NOTE: The committee will not serve a meal in May due to a Central Church event in Houston.
