August Green Team News!

August is National Water Quality Month. Water has such symbolism in Christianity, and we often remember and pray over the water of our baptism. But do we think about the gift of water when we turn on the tap to drink, cook, or bathe? We are blessed indeed with access to clean water, but many of our state and national waterways are under threat and are rated “impaired” under the standards of the Clean Water Act. Click on the link for things that you can do to help protect our waterways!

Check Out What's Happening in Our Youth and Children's Ministry!

Ways to Give

Given the issues with the USPS recently, we wanted to touch on ways to give to the church online. If you prefer to give to the church via check, please bring it on Sunday and place in the offering plate, or drop off in the church office during business hours.

  • Use Simply Giving, an automated giving program. Download enrollment form and return to the office.

  • Send money via Zelle. Add recipient Trinity Lutheran Church with the email ap@tlc-lilburn.org. Use the memo line to indicate what/why you are giving to the church.

Please contact Kristy Perkins at kristy.perkins@tlc-lilburn.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Collecting items August 9 to September 12, 2026

On God’s Work, Our Hands Day, September 13, 2026, the Women of the ELCA will be hosting the assembly of LWR Personal Care Kits. Grace House (Lutheran Campus Ministries at GA Tech) Collection

We are collecting items to support Grace House for the students in the Georgia Tech community. We plan to gather them for delivery on God’s Work Our Hands Sunday.

Thank you for supporting this important ministry.

Grace [Coffee] House is a joint ministry of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta . We proudly serve the Georgia Tech community in Atlanta, Georgia. https://gracepeople.org/

Grace House is a community of friendship, direction, authenticity, service, and a home away from home. It may seem on the surface that our welcome is just a cup of coffee but really, our welcome is hope. Hope is needed in a world that seems fraught with division and hope is needed in the lives of Georgia Tech students. Hope that they will see the other side of a looming midterm, hope that at some point a social life will return, hope that all this hard work is going to be worth it, hope that one day they might have time to sleep, or hope that there is someplace they can still go to get a free cup of coffee, a smile, and for someone to ask “how’s your week going?”.

Adopt-A-Road Clean Up September 12th

In conjunction with the God's Work Our Hands weekend, we will be having another Adopt-A-Road cleanup on Saturday September 12th.

We will meet in Trinity's back parking lot at 9:45 AM. Safety vests and garbage bags will be provided. If you know of anyone else who might like to participate, please feel free to share this information or ask them to contact me directly at jploussard@comcast.net or 404.273.1478.

We hope you can join us!

Exciting News from The Green Team

We reached our goal of collecting 1000 pounds of plastic and have received a bench! Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this goal, and for keeping 1000 pounds of plastic out of landfills.

We will no longer be collecting plastic towards a goal. However, we can continue to collect plastic as a convenience for you if we have your help. We need people who are willing to take the plastic from the bin at church to a drop off location such as Publix, Target, or Walmart and put the plastic in the bins there. If you are willing to help, please use this Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4DA9AC2BA2FB6-63804931-plastic#/  If you have questions about what is involved, please contact Becky White at 404-789-5468 (talk or text).

Alternatively, we encourage you to take the plastic with you when you shop and drop it off. And, as always, the best option of all is to refuse plastic bags and packaging whenever and wherever you can!

Love Offering For September - Frances & Shepherd's Funds

Most of our love offerings at Trinity are for community outreach. This month, we acknowledge that some in our community may be having a difficult time financially. A few years ago, the church received a letter from a community member who signed the letter “Frances.” The letter spoke of the difficult times “Frances” was having and the church did not have the resources to help. Love offerings this month go in part to the Frances Fund, so that we can respond to a “Frances” or any of our community members that need immediate financial assistance in these tough economic times.

A few years ago after worshiping with us at the late service, a young couple asked to talk to the pastor. Dad had just lost his job, and a baby was due any day. They needed food, rent, any help at all. The church put out a call for baby things, and Trinity generously responded. But it was the Shepherds’ Fund that allowed our church the possibility of offering some financial support for groceries and rent. This is just an example of how this fund gives us the opportunity to assist our own members.
