September Green Team News!
Each year from September 1-October 4 Christians around the world unite to celebrate God as the creator and acknowledge creation is from God and we as human beings need to love and care for this gift of creation. The theme for this year’s season is Living Water.
In biblical times the literal meaning of living water is described as fresh, flowing water as opposed to stagnant water. Jesus speaks of “living water” as a gift that satisfies spiritual thirst, the physical image of “living water” is a metaphor for God’s life giving presence.
There are many things we can do to help conserve and maintain fresh water. These are just a few ideas.
*In the kitchen fill a pan of water to rinse and clean fresh fruits and vegetables instead of running the water to rinse and clean them. Collect the water used from the pan to rinse the fruits and vegetables to water indoor and outdoor plants.
*Keep a pitcher of cold drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the water until it gets cold each time to get a glass of water.
*Use the correct sized pot for cooking on the stove. Smaller pots mean less water to boil and less water means less time and energy to heat.
There is a water event in Gwinnett County on September 18, 2026 at Lilburn City Park from 9am-3pm.
It is called Adopt a Stream Chemical and Bacterial Workshop.
