TRINITY TRUMPET
MARCH 2022
“…we begin a journey in this season of Lent. Our worship series, “Gifts of the Dark Wood” is about “seeing life through new eyes.” When we allow ourselves to accept the journey within the Dark Woods, the Holy Spirit Guide tends to nudge us, awaken us, to a fuller life. But life is messy. Life is uncertain. Rather than a problem to be solved, what if we saw uncertainty, failure, emptiness, and loss as gifts? What if we saw how these uncomfortable times can actually help us let go of all we cannot know so that we can live more wholeheartedly? Let us begin the journey…” Dr. Marcia McFee

We begin our Lenten journey as our world is plunged into chaos. Yet even in the midst of the swirl we can seek and discover the gifts therein. On Ash Wednesday we start with a reminder of our Impermanence on this earth. A jarring message, but one that contains its own gift.

Join us for worship at 7 PM either Virtually or In Person.

If you are attending via Zoom, please have a small container of dirt available, from your yard, or from a plant.

Blessings, even in the dark,
Pastor Dale

UCC ARTICLE AND $104, 000,000 MEDICAL DEBT – LARGEST OF ANY DENOMINATION

In Two Years, This Mainline Denomination has Paid Off $100 Million in Medical Debt

(RNS) — The United Church of Christ has now paid off more than $100 million in medical debt for people across the United States. The UCC announced Monday (Feb. 14) that it used $200,000 from one of its annual Giving Tuesday campaigns to purchase and pay off $33 million in medical debt for residents of Ohio, where the mainline Protestant denomination is based. That brought the total medical debt the UCC has purchased and paid off since late 2019 to more than $104 million.

The donation comes as part of RIP Medical Debt’s “A Nation That Cares” campaign, rallying churches and other Christian nonprofits to raise $5 million to relieve roughly $500 million of medical debt across the country. The UCC was one of the first groups to donate to the nonprofit’s campaign, and its donation so far is the largest, according to RIP Medical Debt.

Disaster Relief Bucket Challenge

Illinois Conference Disaster Ministries
We have a challenge from now through May 30th to assemble 500 Church World Service Emergency Cleanup Buckets. Will your church commit to assemble at least ten (10) buckets to help us meet this goal?

Trinity has committed to this project with 10 kits, which will bring the current number of pledged kits to 90. More details to follow.
If you are wondering how Roger came to be involved in this Ministry -

Roger Dart's "Foot in the Door" to Disaster Ministry
United Church of Christ News

"When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005, Roger Dart was self-employed full time as a licensed, certified pedorthist and a part-time third-year seminarian at Chicago Theological Seminary. His senior pastor at what was then the Congregational Church in Deerfield, Ill., invited him to be part of a week-long UMCOR disaster recovery mission trip to Laurel, Miss. Dart did not hesitate. ..."
