“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

Greetings!

Trinity UMC has made sharing God’s love with children a priority since we began in 1960. Many children have passed through these doors and have and can experience God’s love in so many ways.

So far this year, the Trinity Kids have had exciting opportunities, including:

  • A trip to the Gulfarium
  • 3rd-5th grade Winter Retreat in February at Blue Lake in Andalusia, AL.
  • Our after school Trinity Tuesdays program has almost 30 regular participants
  • We have been fortunate enough to expand our Tuesday program to Thursdays this semester and have been having a great time
  • We continue to gather at 9:45 on Sundays to fellowship, pray and study the stories of the Bible
  • Raised over $300 in support of the Lenten Mission Project, Hope in Action.
  • Five 3rd graders receive bibles

And that's just so far this year! We've got plenty of amazing opportunities coming up including our Vacation Bible School is coming June 19-23 from 5-7:30 p.m. at First UMC. We are again partnering with First and Mary Esther UMC. Open to children 4(by 9/1/2022) – current 5th grade. We are also excited about our Summer Camp this year at Camp Baldwin for our 3rd-5th graders is July 10-14.

Registration for both upcoming events is now open! Visit our website to register for VBS and contact Paula Roane if you're interested in the Summer Camp.

Most importantly, we are always looking for adults who are willing to come and share God's love with children. Please get in touch with Paula, children@trinityumc.org, to volunteer. Thank you for all your support in our Children's Ministry this year!
Join our Trinity Kids THIS Sunday, May 15, at the 11:00 a.m. service and come along on this Biblically-inspired, Won’t-Bend-Won’t-Bow-Won’t-Burn Babylonian epic adventure!

We’ll be recounting the adventures of Daniel (“Danny,” as we call him in our 21st-century version of the story) and his bandmates, The Shacks (better known to you Bible scholars out there as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego!).

They embark on a roller-coaster-thrill-ride of experiences as they encounter King Neb, his golden statue, some crazy Babylonians, the fiery furnace, and the infamous lion's den.
A New Beginning
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens" – Ecclesiastes 3:1

Trinity Family,

We are excited to announce a new beginning at Trinity UMC starting on Pentecost, June 5th, 2022! At the May 3rd Church Council meeting, the Council approved the transition of our 8:30 a.m. Traditional Worship Service to become an 8:45 a.m. Holy Communion Worship Service.

During this new worship service, we will offer Holy Communion every Sunday. This Service will be a means for our current members to experience Christ's grace, and it will also create another entry point for new people to attend Trinity. During this Service, we plan to foster an intimate and relaxed atmosphere that will encourage prayer.

This transition will help us be better stewards of the time and energy of those who volunteer as our greeters and ushers and those who serve on our music and safety teams. We feel this transition will also make our 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service more vital and energetic.

We understand that change is not easy. Yet, we also believe the most important member at Trinity UMC is the one who isn't here yet. We feel that this new opportunity will attract new people and allow us to offer a unique worship service in our community. We believe our church will grow because of this change.

What will the Holy Communion Worship Service look like?
The 8:45 a.m. Holy Communion Worship Service will include singing, scripture reading, a message from the pastor, holy communion, and prayer. The choir will be singing at the 11:00 Traditional Worship from now on. However, music will be included in this new Service in some form (We are Methodists, and singing is in our DNA!). In the weeks and months ahead, with the Holy Spirits' help, we will adjust as needed to provide the best worship experience possible.

What does this mean for me?
For those who regularly attend our 8:30 Traditional Worship, we encourage you to attend our new 8:45 Holy Communion Worship Service or, if you prefer, you may transition to our 9:45 Contemporary or 11:00 Traditional Worship Services. Nothing will change for our Sunday School classes; they will still occur during our 9:45 Contemporary and 11:00 Traditional Worship Services.

When will this change occur?
This new beginning at Trinity UMC will start on Pentecost, June 5th, 2022. From now until then we will continue with the services as regularly scheduled.

We understand that change can be difficult; it can even be scary. However, change can also lead to exciting opportunities to spread the love of Christ and to make disciples. Our visioning team has prayed long and hard and put much thought into making this transition. We believe that God will bless it, and we hope that you'll continue to be a part of our Trinity family as we work together to further the kingdom of God.

Please get in touch with the church office (850-862-4169) or email trinity@trinityfwb.org if you have any questions.

Thank you,

The Visioning Team

*Members of the Visioning Team include: Amy Klugh, Kim Allen, Ranae Curtis, Debbie Hurt, Matt Hull, LaTreva Pounds, Laura Finley, Melissa Johnson, Michael Simon, Ann Hutchinson, MaKenzie Johnson, Marie Marshall, Paula Roane, Scott Hohn, and consultant Bill Kierce
50 Days of Opportunities
Most people think of Easter as a single day; however, Easter isn’t just a day. It’s a whole season of 50 days between Easter Sunday and Pentecost. This season celebrates the resurrection of Christ and allows us to reflect and refocus on our mission.

Join us over those 50 days for several phenomenal opportunities to break barriers and share the love of Christ with others. Join us each week for a new and exciting opportunity. Drop off any items listed below at the church office during the scheduled week.
Week of May 15
50 Bags of Thanks

As the school year comes to a close join our Children's and Music Ministry in creating thank you bags including snacks and a thank you note for the teachers of Longwood and Wright Elementary. This week we are encouraging everyone to thank a teacher!
May 22
50 Coffees for College Students

Join The OAKS in providing $5.00 gift cards and an encouraging letter to our College students. Each student will receive two gift cards, one for themselves and one to give away in hopes of inspiring these students to reach out and share the love of Christ.
Week of May 29
50 Letters to Veterans

In honor of Memorial Day, we encourage you to write at least 1 letter to our thank you letter to our active and veteran military. We will be partnering with the organization "A Million Thanks" to provide support and appreciation for our military service members. Letters can be dropped off at the church office!

We encourage everyone to wear red on Pentecost Sunday, June 5 at all services to celebrate the birthday of the Church.
Chancel Bells Performance
Join our Chancel Bells for an exceptional performance on Sunday, June 12, at 3:30 p.m. in our Sanctuary. This will be their final performance before the summer break. Don't miss it!

A reception with snacks and fellowship will follow the performance.
Spend the Summer in Israel!
Unfortunately, we don't mean literally. Spend this summer on a virtual tour of Israel!

See the beautiful, historic land of Israel.
We will visit a site highlighted in the Bible each week, starting with Genesis. Hear an excellent Bible teacher and many of the best tour guides in Israel share the history of these famous sites.

In February 2020, the virtual tour was filmed, and the team directing it was literally on the last plane out of Israel before the shutdown. So you will be able to ‘visit’ some places in Israel that are not available now.

All summer, Saturdays at 1 pm in room C102, starting June 11th.

Each week will be a 1-hour video session with some discussion afterward if we desire it.
Drop in’s welcome! No homework, no studying, just enjoy!

We are deeply saddened to announce that Trinity member of 47 years, John Baston, has gone to be with Christ in his eternal home on May 6, 2022, at 91 years old.

Our deepest condolences to his family. The family has decided NOT to have a funeral service. Please continue to keep them in your prayers during this difficult time.
