Support Trinity using your PA Tax Dollars!
Every person who pays Pennsylvania state taxes can financially help Trinity High School and redirect their tax dollars at the same time! The EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program allows PA taxpayers to divert their tax money to schools and receive 90% of their "donation" back as a tax credit! This program provides a huge portion of the financial aid that Trinity gives to families who qualify--your support enables its success!
Any individual or any corporation that pays PA income taxes of $3,500 or more is eligible. There are also options available to individuals who work for non-profits, as well as retirees.
How does it work?
Donors complete a Joinder Agreement (simple one-page document) that acts as a reservation for your donation level. You will need to estimate your tax liability for your planned donation. The reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more here. Please contact Mrs. Monique Abbas with any questions!
Field Day
Field Day will be held on Tuesday, October 15, with a rain date of Wednesday, October 16. Classes will be held until 11:15 a.m., and students will be dismissed to COBO Field for lunch and Field Day events. As a special treat, we are excited to welcome the Dunkin' Community Cruiser to provide free samples of their non-caffeinated beverages throughout the day! In order to make this a safe and fun day, students have been informed of the following rules and reminders. We greatly appreciate your cooperation!
Student Conduct:
- Field Day is meant to be FUN, and booing or other unsportsmanlike behavior is not in the spirit of the event--or Trinity!
- All events will take place outside. Students are not permitted to enter the building during Field Day unless they have a pass. The nurse will be in the concession stand, and there are restrooms in the stadium.
-
All students must stay with their Mentor Groups for the entire day unless they are assigned to run a game. This includes those who are not participating in certain events due to sports, etc. If students need to go to the nurse or restroom, they must let their Mentor Group Leader know when they leave and return. Mentor Group Leaders and faculty will have a list of student assignments, and Mentor Groups will let Mrs. Stager or House Deans know if they are missing a student at any time. Any student who doesn't stay with their group is subject to disciplinary action.
Dress:
- Events will be held outside all afternoon, so dress accordingly and bring sunscreen.
- Only Field Day team shirts or Trinity spirit wear (if your team doesn't have specific shirts) may be worn.
- No hats, bandanas, or other team accessories may be worn before 11:15 a.m., and they are subject to administrative discretion.
- No shorts may be worn except for Trinity PE uniform shorts.
- Students may wear sweatpants. Leggings/yoga pants are not permitted unless the shirt extends to mid-thigh.
- T-shirts may not be cut (sleeves, neckline waistline, etc.).
- Students should wear sneakers or gym shoes.
- All other dress-down rules apply. Anyone not dressed appropriately may not be able to participate and will be sent to the office.
Food:
- Bring a water bottle--there will be filling stations.
- Students may pack a lunch. Groups may bring in food/snacks to share as a group.
- Outside food may not be ordered or delivered to school for Field Day; this includes parents dropping off food for groups. Any deliveries will not be accepted.
Virtual Day--November 8
Friday, November 8, will be a Virtual Learning Day. Faculty will be available that day for student questions. Teachers will give their students instructions for the day. All assignments will be due no later than Tuesday, November 12. Students who are volunteering to help with the 8th Grade Visit Day will have until Wednesday, November 13, to return their work. Students who do not return their assignments may be marked absent for the day.
Senior Class Field Trip
The Senior Class will have the opportunity to attend a field trip to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., on Monday, November 11, leaving Trinity at 7:00 a.m. and returning at 6:30 p.m. The trip is being coordinated by Deacon Root and Mrs. Stager and is part of a cross-curricular study in the Theology 4, AP English, and English 4 classes. We are looking for interested chaperones with current Diocesan clearances. Please complete this form or contact Deacon Root or Mrs. Stager if you are interested or have questions. Information regarding student costs and permission slips will be distributed to students next week.
SOS Presentation for Freshmen
On Thursday, October 17, ninth graders will hear a presentation given by our Counseling Department in their theology classes. This presentation is a program called "SOS--Signs of Suicide." It is a program used throughout the United States to help students recognize the signs of depression and suicidal thoughts in themselves or their friends. Students in grades 10-12 were given this training in previous years. Please read this letter and supporting materials. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Poplaski, or the Counseling Department.
Gold-Out Football Game: October 18
Friday, October 18, is the last home football game of the 2024 season, and this year it is also the Gold-Out Game to support Trinity's mini-THON. All proceeds go to the Four Diamonds Fund, everything For The Kids. Wear gold! There will also be a miracle minute at halftime, so bring some spare change! Come out and support both the football team and the fight against pediatric cancer.
VIRTUS Training for Students
Trinity students will receive a lesson from the VIRTUS training program "Empowering God's Children" in their theology classes in October. This Diocesan initiative is an effort to assist in the monumental mission of protecting children from abuse. The lesson includes a grade-appropriate video component along with a hands-on activity. The material is designed to equip children to know their rights, to recognize their boundaries, and to protect themselves when safe adults are not immediately available.
As parents and guardians are the primary educators of their children, parents may choose to opt out of the in-school lesson and cover the information at home. More information and the opt-out form can be found here. Parents choosing to opt out must inform Ms. Poplaski by October 15, and return the form to her by October 31. Thank you for your partnership with us to protect children in our diocese.

Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Mark 10:17-30
As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother." He replied and said to him, "Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth." Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, "You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!" The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, "Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God." Peter began to say to him, "We have given up everything and followed you." Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come."
Reflection, by Miss Maria Villarino, Campus Minister
What a beautiful passage with so much to reflect upon. The parable of the rich young man prompts us to examine our own lives and question what we hold dear. Are there "possessions" that prevent us from fully embracing a life of faith and service? The invitation to let go is not just about renouncing material goods; it's also about freeing ourselves from the fears and anxieties that come with them. The gospel challenges us to evaluate our values and consider what truly brings joy and fulfillment in our lives.
In a world often focused on the acquisition of wealth, it serves as a profound challenge to seek first the Kingdom of God, trusting that our needs will be met in ways far beyond material security and to always remember that "for human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God."
