Collections for Saint Francis Soup Kitchen

Seton House is serving at Saint Francis Soup Kitchen in Harrisburg into early December. Seton House Mentor Groups are collecting items to bring with them for the needy in our community. Currently, we are collecting gloves, mittens, and hand warmers. These are due to Mrs. Jarrett by November 1. We are also collecting sweatshirts, which are due to Madame Zellers' room (218) by December. These items can be in good, used condition. Thank you!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Trinity is partnering with New Hope Ministries for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. New Hope is in need of (but not limited to) the following items: canned veggies, canned fruits, stuffing, and yams. The food drive will begin on November 1 and end on November 18. All donations should be taken to your child's Mentor Group, as this will be for House points.

Sophomores--Could You Be the Next Trinity HOBY Ambassador?

Each year, Trinity sophomores who believe they possess leadership skills have the opportunity to apply for the HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar. After submitting applications, two selected Trinity students will attend the prestigious HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar (held at Millersville University, traditionally in late May into early June) to represent Trinity High School and sharpen their skills of personal leadership, group leadership, and leadership for society. Students who are chosen and attend this seminar can list this on their resumes and are highly recognized by colleges and universities as strong leaders in their communities.

Sophomores interested in applying should pick up applications from the 9th and 10th grade counselor Mrs. Sweigart (Miss Campbell). Applications, which require a typed essay, will be due by Thursday, November 7. Trinity's current HOBY Ambassadors will talk to all 10th graders on November 1 about their experience at the 2024 HOBY Leadership Seminar.

Shamrocks Who Shine

On October 22, students from the Seton House S1 Mentor Group visited Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Harrisburg. The students worked in an assembly line with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to distribute food to around 250 residents of the Allison Hill community. The students also helped sort food and supplies at the Catholic Worker House, which is adjacent to Saint Francis. They then distributed these items to the homebound.

Before the trip, the S1 class collected dental supplies. Along with assistance from McCracken Family Dentistry and other generous donors, the class assembled 180 bags, each containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. Students were able to distribute all of these bags to the residents in line.

This was the first of eight trips this fall that will give all students in the Seton House an opportunity to collect for and serve the community. Special thanks to Miss Maria Villarino, Mrs. Mary Speca, Mrs. Noha Bross, Mrs. Amy Kerstetter, Mr. Kevin Cicak, and Mr. Nick Sansone for supervision of this trip.

The Trinity Marching Band traveled to Downingtown, Pennsylvania, to compete in the US Bands Pennsylvania State Championship. Eleven bands competed in Trinity's division. Trinity placed fourth overall and also took first place in the overall visual category. A special congratulations to the Color Guard, who won first place! Good luck to these students at their last competition of the year, to be held at Cedar Cliff High School on Saturday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Dominic Pham '26, who was awarded his Eagle Scout on October 13. He built a fire pit and did landscaping for the Newman House at Bloomsburg University. He joins his older brothers, Trinity alumni, in earning his Eagle Scout: Samuel '15, Vincent '15, and Isaac '22.

From Campus Ministry

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Mark 10:46-52

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, son of David, have pity on me." And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me." Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you." He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see." Jesus told him, "Go your way; your faith has saved you." Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

Reflection, by Miss Maria Villarino

This moment of healing is profound not merely for the restoration of Bartimaeus's physical sight but for the revelation of spiritual insight. Jesus asks Bartimaeus, "What do you want me to do for you?" This question echoes through the ages, inviting us to examine our own desires and needs. Bartimaeus responds simply, "Rabbi, I want to see." His request reveals a deep yearning not just for physical vision but for a transformative encounter with the Divine.

As Jesus responds, "Go; your faith has healed you," we learn that our faith can lead to profound transformation. His healing leads to discipleship—an invitation for all of us to follow Christ actively and bear witness to His transformative love.
