Operation Christmas Child
Donation Deadline: Sunday, November 5
Since 1993, God has used Samaritan’s Purse to deliver over 200 million Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to children in need around the world. In addition to bringing great joy to millions of boys and girls, gifts are accompanied by the Good News of Jesus Christ. We praise God that over the last three decades 50 million children have been discipled.
This year Trinity’s Youth Group will be serving alongside King of Kings Lutheran Church in their annual Operation Christmas Child service project. Youth groups from both churches will be combining efforts in packing shoeboxes full of toys and various outreach materials, which will be sent to children all over the world!
We need your help! Please donate gifts for us to pack in the shoeboxes. Click below for a list of of suggested items to donate. Printed copies are available by the drop off boxes located at both church entrances. The last day to donate will be November 5! Thank you so much for supporting our service project!

Stewardship Pledge Cards
Return By: Sunday, November 19
Stewardship commitment pledge cards were recently mailed to each Trinity church member household. Please complete and return your card by mail, drop it off at the church office, or put it in the collection plate during the offering. You’re not required to turn in a pledge card, but they are a significant help in budgeting for the upcoming fiscal year. For budgeting purposes, we’d like to receive pledge cards by Sunday, November 19; however, they may be turned in at your convenience after that date as well. Pledge cards are only viewed by Business Director Pat Powell and her assistant Shannon Sherman. If you did not receive a pledge card in the mail, you can obtain one from the ushers when you come to worship.

Non-Public Transportation Reimbursement
Deadline: Monday, November 27
The Non-Public Transportation Reimbursement Claim Forms were sent home with students. By filing a Non-Public Transportation Reimbursement Claim, parents of children attending a non-public school, or school districts, are reimbursed for at least part of their transportation costs. The funding for this program is appropriated by the legislature from the State of Iowa’s general fund. The program is mandated by Iowa Code section 285.1(14), which states: “Resident pupil attending a nonpublic school located either within or without the school district of the pupil’s residence shall be entitled to transportation on the same basis as provided for resident public school pupils under this section.”
Some important highlights to note:
- Please include all students in your household on one application. K-8 students only; preschool students are not eligible.
- A parent or guardian who transports one or more family members more than two miles to their non-public school are eligible to submit an application.
- Per the state of Iowa guidelines, forms will not be accepted by the resident school district past the December 1st deadline.
- Applications must be submitted to Trinity School Office no later than Monday, November 27, 2023.
If you need another copy of the reimbursement form, please click the link below and print the page for the school district in which you currently reside.

ILSTO Donations
This year $104,247 in tuition assistance was awarded to Trinity Lutheran School students through the Iowa Lutheran School Tuition Organization (ILSTO) with over $816,000 awarded to Lutheran students throughout Iowa. We would like to increase that amount for 2024-2025, but we need your help. Donations are currently at 15% of our 2023 goal. Now is the time to contribute for the next school year so we can continue this great program. The benefits are two-fold: 1) You get to see more children experiencing the love of God every day, and 2) You will receive a 75% tax credit on your Iowa state income taxes and a charitable deduction on your Federal return. At this time $21,469 has been designated for Trinity School. For more information, contact Dewey Torkelson at 712-260-2991. Donation forms can be downloaded below. Printed copies are also available by the piano in the church Sanctuary.

Mueller's Minute
CONNECTED (John 15:1-5)
This past Wednesday at our weekly chapel led by the school faculty, John Tetzel was attempting to sell indulgences to the townspeople so that they could buy their way out of purgatory (two coins) or hell (five coins). “As soon as the gold in the coffer rings, a soul from purgatory springs!”
Martin Luther would have none of this. He addressed Tetzel’s heretical claims, making it clear that the only way to eternal life with God is through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receiving the forgiveness of sins that Jesus paid for.
God understands that there is nothing we can do to make ourselves right with Him. “God demonstrated His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
God created us as living human beings and He wants us to continue our life with Him in heaven.
God’s Blessings,
Mark Mueller
Principal
