WeShine PDX

We are so excited to announce a new partnership with WeShine PDX and St. Andrews Episcopal Church in developing and maintaining a micro-village for adults who are currently homeless.

WeShine builds and operates small-scale villages to provide transitional shelter to adults while they await permanent affordable housing. Services include basic hygiene, sanitation, social service, behavioral health, primary health care connections, and other support.

WeShine prioritizes vulnerable underserved populations such as racial, sexual, and gender minorities, seniors, persons fleeing interpersonal violence, and those with chronic health conditions or disabilities. Since August 2022, WeShine has operated Parkrose Community Village, which serves single adults and couples who identify as LGBTQIA+. Parkrose Community United Church of Christ hosts this village. A second village in the Hosford Abernathy neighborhood is under construction.

Beginning in July 2023, WeShine anticipates beginning development of a village on the St. Andrews campus. There will be approximately 10 sleeping pods. The church will provide kitchen, toilets, shower, community meeting room, storage and office space for the villagers and staff.

We need support building & landscaping the village, supporting advocacy efforts with city & county bureaus, serving on the WeShine Board, assisting with architectural & structural engineering, and collecting supplies when villagers move in. Contact John Barnes to get involved!

Refugee Kits Needed!

Most refugees come to the US with next to nothing. Help us support them by putting together supply kits to help them restart their lives! In cooperation with the Refugee Care Collective, we will be collecting bedroom & bathroom items for refugees.

Please assemble and bring your restart kit to Trinity on Saturday, July 15th between 9:00-noon. We will have a pickup truck (well marked) in the south parking lot to collect the kits and take them to the RCC warehouse.

If you'd like to contribute a restart kit but can't drop off on the 15th, contact Steve Isaacson at 503-478-1210 or [email protected]) about alternative delivery times.

Journeys Bible Study

We're considering offering Journeys—Trinity’s three-year systematic overview of the Bible—this fall!

In Journeys, we explore the physical & spiritual journeys our ancestors in faith have embarked upon over thousands of years. We reflect on their own faith as we seek connection with each other and God through study & community.

Participants meet weekly in small groups and gather in plenary sessions with Dean Nathan several times a year.

If you might be interested in participating, complete the short form below. Note that this is to gauge interest only; we aren't taking sign-ups at this time.
