Special Session of GriefShare
If you have suffered the loss of a spouse, parent, child, or close friend, the holidays are especially difficult to handle the first year, the second year, or even longer. To anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and is walking through this journey of grief, the weekly Tuesday afternoon GriefShare group would like to extend an invitation to their annual event entitled "Surviving the Holidays." This special session includes viewing a video entitled "Surviving the Holidays" and is an opportunity for Pastor Kallesen to be present and discuss grieving. Coffee, tea, water, and some snacks will be provided.

This special session will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 16, from 1pm-3pm. If you have a commitment during the daytime or if there is enough interest in this event, an additional evening session may be offered on Wednesday, November 17, from 6pm-8pm.

If you have additional questions or are planning to attend, please RSVP by November 9 by contacting the church office (407-488-1919 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com).
Come, Ye Thankful People, Come!
It's our traditional Trinity congregation Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, November 21 immediately following the 10am service! Trinity's Food Service Manager, Rich Poole, will prepare his succulent turkey and dressing with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. We will do a potluck of desserts only. Members whose last names begin with A-J please bring a cake or cupcakes, K-R please bring brownies or cookies, S-Z please bring a pie. It will be a great time of fellowship and reconnecting with friends who attend other worship services that you might not have seen recently. Arts and crafts will be provided for children. Bring your family, friends, and an attitude of gratitude. We have much to be thankful for this year!
Thanksgiving Bread
Bread bakers are needed for our traditional Thanksgiving mini-loaves that are baked by members, blessed on the Altar during Thanksgiving Eve worship, and sent home with families for their Thanksgiving meals. Requires baking at home, wrapping and tying, and returning individually wrapped loaves to Trinity on the afternoon of November 24 by 2pm. Please contact the church office for more information: 407-488-1919 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com
Trinity Shares Christmas
"Trinity Shares Christmas" is our annual Christmas outreach in partnership with Prison Fellowship Ministries, providing Christmas toys and food for children who have an incarcerated parent.

An Angel Tree will go up in the Narthex (entryway of the Sanctuary) this week. Tags are placed on the Angel Tree (and this year we've added an online option for picking a tag as well so that those worshiping from home can easily participate https://bit.ly/TrinitySharesChristmas2021). Simply take a tag (or sign up for one online), purchase what is on that tag, and return the gift and tag to Trinity unwrapped by November 30. All items should be placed in the box in the Narthex during worship or be brought to the front office between the hours of 8:30am-5pm Tuesday-Friday during the week. Please attach the tag or a note to the gift so we know for which family the gift was purchased. Each gift should be under $20. If you are unable to shop but want to donate funds, please contact Alina to arrange for that. Volunteers will then collect the gifts and deliver these Christmas blessings to local families.

We are so grateful for your participation in blessing these wonderful children on behalf of their incarcerated parent. If you would like to volunteer to call families, sort, or deliver gifts, we need your help! Please reach out to Alina Davis to volunteer or ask questions.  alinad@bellsouth.net or 407-247-9703
IMPACKS
"Impacks" (ie: backpacks making an impact) is a project putting together backpacks with a few personal items for children who are living in transition between foster homes or homeless shelter living. It ensures that each child has something of his/her very own to hold what little belongings he/she may have to carry from location to location. On any night there can be over 100 children sleeping at the Coalition for Homeless alone. It changes nightly. We have been told several times that our backpacks and gifts would be the only items these children would receive for Christmas.

This project is created and organized by Ashely Marshall of our CDC family. The CDC family of Trinity has been participating in IMPACKS for a several years now, and we are jumping on board to support this very real need in our community, to send a little extra love to children in need. Our church family goal this first year is to provide and fill 30 backpacks for Elementary age children. The backpacks will be delivered in December so these children will have something for Christmas. The deadline to bring completed backpacks to the Narthex will be November 30, 2021, but feel free to start bringing them in any time after October 21, 2021.

OUR Church Family BACKPACK GOAL: 30 (or more) Elementary Age appropriate size/theme Backpacks with a pack each of appropriate size socks and underwear, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and one toy for an elementary school age child. If you'd like to participate, please email TLC@TrinityDowntown.com - you can donate one backpack with all the items included, or if you would like to donate money, Chanda will do the shopping for you (est. $30 for a backpack and items). Monetary donations are due by October 24. Thank you!
Operation Christmas Child
Trinity is Participating in Operation Christmas Child! The amazing journey of a shoebox begins with you… Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization with a mission to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These shoe boxes filled with simple gifts are shipped to children around the world affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease, and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Trinity Downtown will accept packed shoeboxes until Nov. 6th, or you can drop shoeboxes off at an official drop-off location during National Collections Week (Nov. 15-22). Information about drop-off locations and suggested gift items are available online at Operation Christmas Child | Shoebox Outreach of Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org). Contact Trinity church member Lynn Hogan, OCC Project Leader at lynnhogan@earthlink.net if you have any questions or are interested in volunteering for the packing party.
The Elders' BBQ was a Success!
On Sunday, October 31st, Trinity had its Inaugural Annual BBQ. At least a hundred of the congregation members, their family and friends came to this event. There was great food and fellowship. This event was a long time coming. We had Bingo and a packing party for the Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse in the Gym. We want to thank all the Elders for a wonderful outing. Stay tuned for the next event…

Did anyone say, “I Have the B-r-a-g-g-i-n-g R-i-g-h-t-s for being the best pastry chef in the First Annual Cake Bake-Off at Trinity??? We had three judges who diligently voted on the best cake. There were four entries selected for the top prizes. They won a ribbon and a gift card to Michael’s Crafts Store. We had four cakes that were not selected by the judges that were purchased from the spectators without tasting the cakes! The proceeds will go to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund! The other contestants said, “Wait til’ next time!!!
