David Ludwig Concert

We are thrilled to have our very own David Ludwig perform as a special guest for this event! Please join us at 7:30pm on October 28 in the sanctuary for a fun evening of music and behind the scenes tour of the pipe organ.

David Ludwig Jr. is a graduate of Valparaiso University and The Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He served for many wonderful years as Minister of Music at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and currently serves as Worship and Arts Director at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Winter Park and as Saturday evening worship leader at Trinity Downtown. David regularly takes part in local musical performances and celebrations, sharing his talent with the community. He loves to make music with all, especially with his wife, Janet, and his two sons, Ben and Chris.

Come out for a lovely evening to hear David Ludwig play beautiful music. Just maybe we will hear a piece of Phantom of the Opera.

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” (Psalm 100)

Downtown Orlando Pumpkin Patch

It's back! The Child Development Center's PTL is moving forward their biggest annual fundraiser, our Pumpkin Patch! The PTL will set up those fantastic photo-op areas and we'll have lots of pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and prices. This is a fantastic opportunity for fundraising for our CDC, as well as for welcoming local guests onto our campus to see our Church and CDC and meet some of our Trinity family in a very casual environment. A pumpkin purchase is NOT required for someone to stop by to take photos among the pumpkins and décor - we have a handful of families who come every year just for photos, and they love it!

The Pumpkin Patch is open from October 6-31 with weekday hours of 3:30pm-6pm and weekend hours from 10am-4pm. If you would like to volunteer to help, please use the following link to sign up:

Don't forget to buy a pumpkin to support Trinity's CDC!

Food and Funds on the Fifth Sunday - THIS WEEKEND

As always, on any fifth Sunday of a month, we will be collecting food donations for a local food pantry (dry and canned goods only, not expired) and funds for the Pastor's discretionary fund assisting those dealing with immediate financial emergencies. Bring in those dollars and BOGOs on October 30! Thank you.

LWML Weekend Update

LWML finally celebrated LWML Sunday last weekend. Pastor Doug was missed and prayers have been given for him to return to good health.

Pastor Weerts did a marvelous job reminding everyone that although we are sinners, God has provided wonderful examples of His saving grace and forgiveness.

Our photographer was Brian Paul. A big thank you to him and Wendy Hoffman-Persons for use of their truck and unflagging energy!

Church Work Day

Our next church work day is scheduled for the morning of November 5. This workday will include outside clean up of Trinity, continued clean up of the grounds after Hurricane Ian, and clean up of spaces to return them to normal functioning. We encourage you to set this day aside and come help make our church beautiful. There is work for everyone, no matter your skill set.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Trinity Downtown!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Trinity Youth Ministry (TYM) is a new and exciting opportunity for 6th through 8th grade students in our local community to come together in a fun environment to build relationships with one another and with Jesus. Volunteers and participants will enjoy dinner together, followed by worship, games, and an open gym in the beautiful facilities provided by our Lord at Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Orlando. FCA TYM will meet in Trinity’s fellowship hall and gymnasium, from 6-8 p.m. one Sunday per month.

Special Session of GriefShare

If you have suffered the loss of a spouse, parent, child, or close friend, the holidays are especially difficult to handle the first year, the second year, or even longer. To anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and is walking through this journey of grief, the weekly Tuesday afternoon GriefShare group would like to extend an invitation to their annual event entitled "Surviving the Holidays." This special session includes viewing a video entitled "Surviving the Holidays" and is an opportunity for Pastor Kallesen to be present and discuss grieving. Coffee, tea, water, and some snacks will be provided.

This special session will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 15, from 1pm-3pm.

If you have additional questions or are planning to attend, please RSVP by November 8 by contacting the church office (407-488-1919 or [email protected]).

Trinity Shares Christmas

"Trinity Shares Christmas" is our annual Christmas outreach in partnership with Prison Fellowship Ministries, providing Christmas toys and food for children who have an incarcerated parent as well as a Bible and an opportunity to minister to a family. Our Angel Tree will be placed in the Narthex (entryway of the Sanctuary) in early November where you can select a child for whom to purchase a gift. You will also be able to select a gift online.

While purchasing gifts for the children is a critical component of the program, we need volunteers! We are looking for individuals to contact the caregivers to verify addresses as well as volunteers to deliver the gifts to the families during the week of December 18th. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please reach out to Alina Davis at [email protected] or 407-247-9703.

Operation Christmas Child

It's that time of year again! Trinity Downtown and the families of the CDC are invited to pack a shoebox for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry. Operation Christmas Child delivers the good news of Jesus Christ to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes. Each box packed full of quality toys, school supplies, and personal care items becomes a tangible expression of God's immense love for the child.

You can pack a shoebox of your own or pick up a free shoebox from the narthex or CDC front desk while supplies last. Make sure to take a brochure which includes suggestions on what to pack as well as a shipping label. Most importantly, please pray for the Operation Christmas Child ministry and the child who will receive the shoebox you lovingly pack.

Please return packed and labeled shoeboxes to the collection boxes at the CDC or Trinity Church narthex no later than Sunday, November 13. Packed shoeboxes may also be dropped off between November 14-21 at the Church on the Drive at 1914 Edgewater Drive in Orlando.

Visit the link below for additional information or to find additional shoebox drop-off locations:

IMPACKS

"Impacks" (ie: backpacks making an impact) is a project putting together backpacks with a few personal items for children who are living in transition between foster homes or homeless shelter living. It ensures that each child has something of his/her very own to hold what little belongings he/she may have to carry from location to location. On any night there can be over 100 children sleeping at the Coalition for Homeless alone. It changes nightly. We have been told several times that our backpacks and gifts would be the only items these children would receive for Christmas.

This project is created and organized by Ashely Marshall of our CDC family. The CDC family of Trinity has been participating in IMPACKS for a several years now, and we are jumping on board to support this very real need in our community, to send a little extra love to children in need. Our church family goal this year is to provide and fill 30 backpacks for Elementary age children. The backpacks will be delivered in December so these children will have something for Christmas. The deadline to bring completed backpacks to the Narthex is November 27, 2022, but feel free to start bringing them in any time after November 5, 2022.

For these backpacks, please bring Elementary Age appropriate themed backpacks with a pack each of appropriate size socks and underwear, a toothbrush and toothpaste, an appropriate book, and one toy for an elementary school age child.

Please contact the church office with questions by emailing [email protected] or by calling 407-488-1919.
