Weekend Updates

There are several updates for the services this weekend. Please read carefully and reach out to the church office with any questions.

Pastor Doug on Vacation

Pastor Doug is away on vacation beginning today (Friday, October 7) and will return for next weekend’s services. While he is away, please refrain from contacting him and instead direct any questions or concerns you may have to the church office or other Trinity staff or volunteers who could help answer your question. Don’t know who to contact? Ask Katherine and she will be able to help you.

Welcome Pastor Mike and Dorothy!

Pastor Mike Damery will be filling in for Pastor Doug in the pulpit this weekend and will take over Pastor Doug’s Sunday School class. Please give Pastor Mike and his wife, Dorothy, a huge Trinity welcome!

Sunday School Classrooms

Due to the church basement flooding during hurricane Ian and the resulting clean up still going on, Sunday School cannot be held in the Loggia classrooms.

Rocky Smothers’ class on the Major Festivals will be held in the partitioned section of the Fellowship Hall.

Pastor Mike will be taking over Pastor Doug’s class, which will meet in Heritage Hall room #107 (as you enter Heritage Hall from the hallway leading to the Fellowship Hall, it is the second classroom on your left).

Questions? Contact the church office.

How Are You After Hurricane Ian?

How did you make out after Hurricane Ian? Do you need any assistance? Do you need someone to talk to? We would love to hear from you!! Please feel free to share your experience with this storm or anything else with us by emailing [email protected]

Downtown Orlando Pumpkin Patch

It's back! The Child Development Center's PTL is moving forward their biggest annual fundraiser, our Pumpkin Patch! The PTL will set up those fantastic photo-op areas and we'll have lots of pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and prices. This is a fantastic opportunity for fundraising for our CDC, as well as for welcoming local guests onto our campus to see our Church and CDC and meet some of our Trinity family in a very casual environment. A pumpkin purchase is NOT required for someone to stop by to take photos among the pumpkins and décor - we have a handful of families who come every year just for photos, and they love it!

The Pumpkin Patch is open from October 6-31 with weekday hours of 3:30pm-6pm and weekend hours from 10am-4pm. If you would like to volunteer to help, please use the following link to sign up:

Don't forget to buy a pumpkin to support Trinity's CDC!

Make A More Joyful Noise! is back!

Please join the Parish Choir and help us Make A More Joyful Noise! on Reformation Sunday, October 30, during the traditional 11:15 am service. All are welcome! Every voice can make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Even YOU!

Come to the balcony on Sunday morning at 10:45 am to rehearse prior to the service.

Come Make A More Joyful Noise! with us!

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” (Psalm 100)

LWML Weekend

Due to hurricane Ian, LWML weekend has been rescheduled for October 22 and 23.

October 22 and 23 has been designated as Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Sunday. The women of the LWML invite the entire congregation to celebrate together as the Body of Christ under the theme, “For Us and With Us.” This special worship service was authored by Rev. Dr. Ryan Peterson, Vice President of Administration, Concordia University Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Join us and learn how the Lord has worked through the LWML to bring the lost and the erring into fellowship with Him through mission and ministry. LWML is planning a display of several completed quilts and our LWML Banner. There will also be a small keepsake gift for the first 100 people.

ElderFest BBQ

Please join the Trinity Downtown Elders who are hosting the ElderFest BBQ on Friday, October 28, from 5:30–8:30 pm in Fellowship Hall and the Courtyard.

The menu includes bratwurst, beef hotdogs, chicken sliders, and sides. Beverages will include water, iced tea, beer, and wine. Guests are asked to bring a dessert. There will be activities and games for the children along with BINGO for all to enjoy.

A special, guest performance by our very own David Ludwig will also be occurring this night. Join us at 7:30pm in the sanctuary for this fun event!

This event is FREE of charge. We will have a Free-Will Offering plate out to accept donations to offset expenses and go toward Pastor’s discretionary fund. No RSVP’s needed and all are welcomed to attend. If you would like to volunteer for this event, please contact Terry Boggs at [email protected].

Food and Funds on the Fifth Sunday

As always, on any fifth Sunday of a month, we will be collecting food donations for a local food pantry (dry and canned goods only, not expired) and funds for the Pastor's discretionary fund assisting those dealing with immediate financial emergencies. Bring in those dollars and BOGOs on October 30! Thank you.

Peace Serving in Uvalde, TX Update

Peace and team are back and had a great trip to Uvalde, Texas, where we provided comfort and love to students, teachers and school staffs as they returned to school.

We look forward to sharing our Uvalde debrief very soon.

Thank you for your prayers, love and support during our deployment. We appreciate you!

Family Fun Night

Trinity’s next Friday Fun Night will be held on Friday, October 21st, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. All ages from young to old are welcome to join in some fun and games, whether board games or card games. The main event for the night is bingo with prizes that include nostalgia candy, “a blast from the past,” and gift cards from various locations.

The Fellowship and Outreach Team will be providing dinner. It’s football season… time to have food, fun, and fellowship!!! Both the Team and Attendees are asked to bring Tailgating Snacks of your choice. A free-will offering will be taken to help cover operating expenses as well as for Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.

This month will also include a themed basket on display for a raffle drawing by the name of “Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice.” So bring your $1 bills and play your heart out! Baskets change each month, but the purpose remains the same: to raise money to purchase coverings for the courtyard.

Please contact the office with any questions.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Trinity Downtown!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Trinity Youth Ministry (TYM) is a new and exciting opportunity for 6th through 8th grade students in our local community to come together in a fun environment to build relationships with one another and with Jesus. Volunteers and participants will enjoy dinner together, followed by worship, games, and an open gym in the beautiful facilities provided by our Lord at Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Orlando. FCA TYM will meet in Trinity’s fellowship hall and gymnasium, from 6-8 p.m. one Sunday per month.

New Foundations Class

Trinity is offering a weekly Foundations Class. If you or someone you know is interested in joining Trinity or wants information about the Lutheran faith, this is the class for you! An introduction to Christian teaching and the Lutheran faith, the purpose of this class is to provide the information needed to understand what Lutherans believe and decide whether Trinity is the church for you. Joining Trinity after completing this class is not required, but our hope is that you will find this to be a wonderful community where you can be involved and grow spiritually.

Meetings will occur September 10-November 5 from 4:00pm-5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall If you are interested in the class or need more information, please contact the church office.

For anyone who may want to participate but is not available when we are meeting or is not comfortable meeting in person, we are working on an online option that will give you the same information but can be completed on your own. However, we encourage you to attend in person if possible as you will have the opportunity to interact with the others in the class and become connected to people at the church who are learning alongside you. If you are interested in this online option, please contact the church office at [email protected]

New Adult Sunday School Class

Pastor Doug is leading a study for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults entitled "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" based on the book by Frank Tureck and Norman Geisler by the same title.

If you want to follow along in the book or the study guide, we recommend purchasing your book ASAP.
