THE P.L.A.C.E. TO BE HELD AT TRINITY ON AUGUST 10:  Join us for a great opportunity for growth and fellowship that is happening at Trinity on Saturday, August 10 beginning at 9:00am. The Presbytery Leadership Academy for Congregational Enrichment will begin with a brief service of worship followed by a keynote address by Steve Hancock exploring four fundamental spiritual practices used by Jesus and his followers, giving purposeful and repeated attention to that which is crucial for our growth in Christ. Participants will then attend two free workshops of their choice: Passionate Worship (Carol Clark), Intentional Faith Development (Theresa Spragins and Kristi Button), Risk-Taking Mission and Service (David Gill), Extravagant Generosity (Steve Hancock and Malinda Kirchner), Why We Worship as We Do (David Dyer), and Clerk of Session Training (Leslie Belden). Register online at www.trinitypreslr.com/the-place-2019 or by calling Trinity’s office at 501-868-5848.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  August 11-17 birthdays at Trinity: Robert Murphy, Sr. If your birthday is missing from this list, contact Trinity’s office at [email protected] or 501-868-5848.

TRINITY’S SUMMER FRED TALKS:  Similar to the well-known TED Talks, Trinity’s FRED Talks offer a wide variety of topics that help open our eyes and hearts to God, God’s creation, and God’s children. Faith, Religion, Education, and Discussion, FRED Talks may range from Christian theological and Biblical discussions to other religions to the needs in our community and our world. But the talks’ focus and discussions always help us with our faithful response to issues and people as followers of Christ. The talks take place in Trinity’s Gearing Hall on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15am with refreshments and fellowship time beginning at 9:00am.  During the FRED Talks, children 4 years through 5th grade will meet with Nette Curtis and friends for Children’s Summer Fun in Room 4 from 9:15-10:15am. Youth 6th through 12th grade will meet with Jared Brown in Room 7.

  • August 11: Rev. Jeff Price – “Anatomy of a Sermon.” Ever wonder how a sermon gets written? Pastor Jeff will walk you through the process, from selecting a scripture to critiquing. Much of the information will be helpful to those who have to do public speaking of the non-sermon variety.

  • August 18: Kami Tran – “Hearing What Your Children Aren’t Saying.” How to speak your child’s language and understand what their behaviors are communicating. Kami Tran, Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, National Certified Counselor, is the mental health supervisor with Pediatrics Plus Counseling & Diagnostics.

  • August 25: Rev. Carol Clark – “WATCH!” We live busy lives and sometimes it's hard to pull together a 'disciplined life of prayer and connection with God.'  We want to.  We think we should, but life is full of demands.  One simple (but focused) way to deepen a life of faith is to WATCH.  You will hopefully leave this session with an approach/orientation to draw you closer to God in the midst of your busy life.  Carol Clark is a retired PCUSA pastor who has been worship leader and preacher at Montreat worship and youth conferences, pastor of churches in SC, TX, NC, and most recently transitional pastor at Park Hill Presbyterian in North Little Rock.

IN WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 11:  Pastor Jeff Price will preach “You Gotta Have Faith” drawn from Hebrews 11:1-16. We will sing the hymns We Walk by Faith and Not by Sight; Faith Begins by Letting Go; and Faith, While Trees Are Still in Blossom.  David Glaze and the Sanctuary Choir will present Joseph M. Martin’s For Such a Time As This . Liturgist Anne Brown will help lead worship and Julie Price will give God’s Word for Children.

CHURCH-WIDE BABY SHOWER FOR ANNE AND JARED BROWN ON AUGUST 25: Please join us for a Baby Shower honoring Anne and Jared Brown on Sunday, August 25 in the Fellowship Hall immediately after worship. This invitation is for the entire family. We will serve a light lunch and have lots of fun! Please RSVP to Nette Curtis at 501-658-3936 or [email protected]. Baby Brown is registered at Amazon, Target, and Pottery Barn Kids.

ATTENTION TRINITY COOKS!  Your Fellowship Committee is looking for folks who love to cook and bake! The idea is to form a group of rotating volunteers who would be willing to prepare desserts or sides for our church wide luncheons and dinners. The group would be contacted by Fellowship when we are having an upcoming event. We may have specific food requests, or it may be an assortment, depending on the menu. This gives our members who enjoy cooking a chance to share their talents on occasion and provides delicious homemade dishes to enhance our amazing meals. We are happy to reimburse for the cost of ingredients, just turn in your receipts to the church office. If you are interested, please contact Susan Brown at 501-517-2774 or Elizabeth Downes at 501-247-5210. We need you!

RECREATION SUNDAY DATE CHANGE:  Trinity’s big fall kick-off event, ReCreation Sunday, is set for Sunday, September 8 . More information will follow in our upcoming fall preview newsletter.
