Triple P Elkhart County Parent Newsletter - October 2025

Elkhart County hosts first Triple P training in nearly a decade for 20 new providers!

Thanks to our partners at Oaklawn, The SOURCE Elkhart County, and Church on the Rock in Elkhart, we held a full Triple P Primary Care (and Primary Care Teen) three-day training for 20 professionals across our community in September! Read more about how this special event came together at the Horizon Education Alliance website:

As always, you can find information about upcoming Triple P workshops and group sessions in the community at TriplePElkhartCounty.org. Read on for more updates!

Virtual workshop on managing screen time is open to four-county region this month!

As we expand our partnerships across a four-county area -- Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph counties in Indiana -- we want everyone to know that, as part of our partnership with Geminus, virtual Triple P workshops are available every month for any parent across the region!

Any parent, caregiver, foster parent, family member, etc., in any of the listed counties is invited to sign up for these one-hour workshops provided on Zoom (an app that can be downloaded for free on any Internet connected device) in either English or Spanish. This month, we are offering a workshop focusing on how parents can foster healthy screen time use with kids ages 2-12. The workshop in Spanish will be Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. and the workshop in English will be Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m.

You can click the image of the flyer above to download a PDF flyer with information about both the English and Spanish workshops. You can print or email those to whoever you'd like. If you'd like to share about the workshops on Facebook, click here to see and share our post in Spanish, and click here for the English event post. Thank you for your help getting the word out about virtual Triple P!

Five friendship skills every child needs - And Triple P strategies for parents!

Imagine your child comes to you and says, “No one will play with me.” Your heart sinks. It’s perfectly natural to want to jump in and fix it — but what’s the best way to teach kids about friendship?

We want our kids to make friends; to play and have fun, but we also want them to be confident when challenges arise. Triple P research shows that kids who have healthy friendships not only have a warm relationship with their parents and caregivers, but their parents also coach them through challenging situations and help them connect with their friends.

There are 5 practical social skills to help kids make friends and navigate friendships. The good news is you’re likely already doing these things.
