Triple P Elkhart County Parent Newsletter - August 2025

Prepare your student for the transition to middle or high school with Triple P workshops!

It's August and back-to-school season is in full swing across northern Indiana! Positive Parenting Program is supporting parents with kids who are going to a new school this year (or are looking ahead a year or two to that transition and want to prepare)!

First, as part of our Community Partners services with Geminus, we are offering a virtual workshop on "Doing Well in Middle and High School" in English and Spanish for any parent of school-age kids in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph counties in Indiana!

This free hourlong virtual workshop provides proven strategies to help any parent equip their kids with the tools they need to do their best as they move on to junior high, middle school, or high school! Even if your child still has a year or two before those milestones, this workshop will supply you with plenty of ideas you can start to implement now in your own home! All you need is an Internet connected device and Zoom, a free virtual meeting app for PC, Mac, and all smartphones/tablets.

The workshop in English is at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 21, and the workshop in Spanish is at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 14. Sign up with the buttons below!

You can also download PDF informational flyers to share, just click here for the English flyer and here for the Spanish. Also please feel free to forward this email to any parents or partner organizations you know of in these four counties.

Also, we are partnering with YSB (Youth Service Bureau) in South Bend to provide the same workshop in-person in English at their wonderful building at 411 Caterina Street! That workshop is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, and we will provide child care activities. We will also have B.A.B.E. Store & More coupons for parent attendees who have babies and toddlers! Download the PDF flyer here to share or for more details. Please click the button below to register so we know how many children to prepare activities for:

As always, you can find information about other upcoming Triple P workshops and group sessions in the community at TriplePElkhartCounty.org. Read on for more updates!

As the school year starts, take a Triple P look at routines for children!

We all know kids thrive with routines, but let’s be honest: even the best-laid plans can lead to power struggles when it’s time to transition from playtime to bedtime (or any time in between!). The good news? There are proven ways to turn daily tasks into smoother, more positive experiences for everyone.

Our partners at Triple P International just published a fantastic article packed with practical, research-backed strategies to:

  • Reframe routines in ways kids can embrace
  • Reduce resistance around mealtimes, mornings, and bedtimes
  • Build cooperation that lasts beyond any single task

Click below to discover how small shifts can make big differences in your daily rhythm! And pass it along to another parent who could use these tips!
