Triple Your Dollars!

Courting Love 3x Match Until July 1

Tennis is thriving in the Yampa Valley, and more than 35 adults had a blast at the Rare Air Tennis Camp this past week (picture above and more at the end of this letter). Read below to learn about how you can ensure that the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex can continue to offer premier facilities for tennis enthusiasts all over the world.

Good Morning,

On behalf of the Capital Campaign Committee, I want to express gratitude to everyone who has so generously supported the campaign to build new pavilions, outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, and to build what is undoubtedly the best pickleball facility in the State of Colorado.

We are about to begin major work on the Tennis Facility. The work will include a new membrane, insulation and lighting. The Courting Love campaign has been our focus for the last 8 months, and we are very close to raising what we need to complete the work with very little to no debt.

How will we raise the additional $400,000 needed to cover the cost of the work on the Tennis Center? An outstanding opportunity has presented itself. Any money that we raise between now and July 1 will be triple matched by anonymous donors. A thousand dollars becomes $3000. One hundred $1000 donations would result in $300,000. If you would like to be one of the donors who will bring us very close or past the finish line, please consider a $1000 or more donation to the Courting Love Campaign by July 1. With the opportunity for $1000 to become $3000, $2000 to become $6000, and $3000 to become $9000, your dollars with the match will go a long way.

Our Tennis Center is the home of youth programs including the Boys and Girls high school tennis teams, as well as adaptive sports, Boys and Girls Club, the STA's SERVES program and many more. It provides our youth with instruction, constructive group activities, and the opportunity to succeed both in sports and in creating discipline and values that will create good citizens.

Please consider this excellent opportunity to make your dollars go far. The vision for our campus is affordable racquet sports for all ages and socio-economic groups. Fundraising is our best tool to continue to keep our nonprofit organization on course.

Sincere thanks for the opportunity to serve you as Capital Campaign Chair for the last 5 years. Together, we will reach the top.

Know The Rules of the Game

CORRECTION: A discussion occurred at the Steamboat Springs Pickleball Association meeting last weekend where some mis-information was provided by a speaker. Below you will find the correct information about this pickleball rule: "In unofficiated play, there are two situations where a player can call a fault on an opponent – non-volley zone (aka "kitchen") faults and service foot faults. If the two sides disagree, then you replay the point. There are also only two service issues where a replay can be called on an opponent – imparting spin on the ball and if the release is not visible. Note that you cannot call a fault on your opponent's actual service motion and in all cases, you must call the fault or for a replay before returning the ball ... no double chances!"
