We are calling all Bulldogs to gather your gently used middle-school and young adult level books for the 2018 TEMS Book Bonanza. You can drop off your books in bins at the front and back entrances and students will have the opportunity to "shop" for books to take home and read. There is no cost! This is a great opportunity to clean out your bookshelves and find new books to read.
Drop off dates: February 20th and 21st
Book Bonanza Shopping days: during lunch and activity February 22nd and 23rd
We need volunteers to help sort the books after school on Wednesday 2/21, and to run the Book Bonanza during lunch and activity periods on Thursday and Friday, 2/22 and 2/23. If you are able to help, please contact Meg Burgo mburgo20@comcast.net

Information on the Williamsburg trip

Ms. Wilson and Mrs. Toscano are currently developing plans for TEMS' 7 th Gr. trip to Williamsburg, Virginia on May 30th- June 1st, 2018.  The goal of the trip is to offer a well-balanced program of fun, learning, and social development.
In order to streamline communication and paperwork to you, all forms that need to be submitted to attend the trip are available on Schoology.  All 7th grade students should have already been admitted to the Williamsburg group.  If your student does not see Williamsburg as one of their listed groups, please let Ms. Wilson know asap so your student can be added.
The cost of the trip is $372.00.  This amount, in cash or check made out to TEMS, is payable either in full or in three installments.  The first installment is due March 15th in the amount of $124.00.  The second installment of $124.00 is due on April 5th.  The third installment of $124.00 is due May 3rd.  Students will need cash ($65.00 is recommended) once on the road for non-furnished meals (as indicated) and for personal purchases.  We will endeavor to make it a very memorable and rewarding experience so please contact the guidance counselor with any financial concerns.
T/E School Board Approves Redistricting Plan for Beaumont, Devon and Hillside Elementary Schools Effective August 2018

At its meeting on January 22, 2018, the Tredyffrin/Easttown School Board unanimously approved a redistricting plan to adjust the attendance areas of  Beaumont, Devon and Hillside Elementary Schools. Developed by the Elementary Redistricting Committee, the plan was initially presented to the School Board and the public at a January 18, 2018 special meeting. The goal of the redistricting plan is to create more balanced student populations across the five elementary schools. Currently, Devon Elementary School has a student population exceeding 600 students, whereas neighboring schools Beaumont and Hillside Elementary Schools have populations of 392 and 422 respectively. The redistricting plan will redistribute student enrollment resulting in projected enrollments of 493 at Beaumont, 488 at Devon and 488 at Hillside. Families of current third grade students have the option to keep their student at Devon Elementary School for the student's fourth grade year. District transportation to Devon Elementary School will be provided for these fourth grade students if needed. The middle school attendance areas will not change as a result of the current redistricting plan. The new attendance boundaries, a map of street assignments and points of clarification are available on the redistricting page of the T/E School District website. www.tesd.net/redistricting
New attendance boundaries will take effect in August 2018. The District is developing a multifaceted transition plan to help families make a smooth transition to their new schools. Additional details about this plan will be presented at the February 5, 2018 School Board Education Committee Meeting and will be communicated directly to families in the coming weeks.

World Traditions and Celebrations Day
will take place on Feb. 14th, 2018
As part of TEMS' Cultural Appreciation initiative, we will be celebrating World Traditions and Celebrations Day on Feb. 14 in the Auditorium lobby during activity periods and also periods 7 & 8 (as a voluntary activity for classes/advisory support students to visit).  We will have tables set up for students to show their displays.  Some students are creating videos, trifolds, slideshow presentations, origami, games etc.  Some topics they are working on so far are Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, Russian New Year, Diwali, Juneteenth, Eid, Holi, Quinceanera, and Korean Coming of Age.  All students are welcome to participate and create displays. What is missing?  Help us to add more traditions.
