For the second year in a row, our Hot Springs World Class High School has received a Beating the Odds Award for Math Growth from the Office for Education Policy at the University of Arkansas. Annually, excellent schools around the state are highlighted by Outstanding Educational Performance Awards through the OEP. Read more, here.
Our students in kindergarten - 2nd grade classrooms will be taking NWEA interim tests in reading this week, on Monday-Wednesday. As you remember, data derived through NWEA tests provides actionable items for teachers to create curriculum and classroom offerings that improve learning for all students. Learn more, here.
Our talented community partner Anthony Tidwell of Cutwell 4 Kids spent the morning in our Hot Springs World Class High School Dance Studio teaching students about the elements of visual art. Students will use this to deconstruct a chosen piece of artwork and create original choreography.
Our Hot Springs World Class High School students attended the annual "Reddie Day" event at  Henderson State University (Arkadelphia) - which is an opportunity for kids from across the area to learn about programs of study and tour the campus.
Students in Mrs. Horne's 3rd grade class at our  Oaklawn Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School  were surgeons for the day - as they “diagnosed” difficulties in reading nonfiction text and wrote “prescriptions” for text features that could help a struggling reader. Students then entered the operating room and located text features identified.
We had a wonderful turnout at our HSSD Welcome Center Open House event! Thank you to our personnel and community partners for dropping by to tour and learn about the many FREE services and resources available at this newly remodeled space on Main Street. Spread the word to families, groups, and kids that will benefit!  Learn more about all services and offerings, here.
Our Gardner STEM Magnet School families had a wonderful "Meet Me at the Library" event thanks to Henderson State University Children’s Literature students, Garland County Library staff, and staff and students from Gardner!
