This week is Red Ribbon Week!
Trojan families, please look for details from your teachers about festive competitions, dress-up themes, games, and more that our schools will use this week to highlight the importance of remaining DRUG FREE - coordinated by our outstanding Counselors and Counselor Teams.
In an effort to combat the growing epidemic of prescription drug and heroin abuse, the FBI and DEA have released "Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict," a documentary aimed at educating students and young adults about the dangers of addiction. Watch the documentary, here.

At our HSSD Park Magnet, an IB World School, 6th grade students began the first steps of their Sugar Skull designs for the upcoming Dia de Los Muertos celebration. In photos above, they focused on creating symmetrical balance in their artwork!
In the library at our Oaklawn STEM Magnet School, our Trojan kindergarten and 1st grade students are learning how to build their independent reading stamina by setting goals and charting their progress.

When you can't go to the pumpkin patch, the pumpkin patch comes to you! Mrs. Rankin's and Ms. Edwards' classes at our Langston Elementary Leadership Academy were excited to find pumpkins in the specially crafted "Langston Pumpkin Patch."
