Trojans News
It was our privilege to host Senator Alan Clark and Representative Les Warren (pictured here with HSWCHS Student Council members, Principal Dr. White, and Superintendent Dr. Nehus) at the Hot Springs World Class High School on Friday as part of Take Your Legislator to School Month. Students discussed with our Legislators concerns and challenges, and the HSSD leadership team provided a tour of projects and construction and delivered a general update about the district. We appreciate our state leaders for their support and engagement with the HSSD!
HSJA JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) students completed mock interviews, as part of the skills-focused JAG program curriculum. They created professional resumes, and completed a 20 minute, one-on-one interview session with an HSSD educator or administrator. Congrats to our amazing students for the hard work! Read more, here.
La ngston Hosts 3rd Annual Citizenship Bee
Congrats to our Langston Elementary Leadership Academy Citizenship Bee and winners Reginea Floyd, Azar Bryant and Arella Canales! All three 4th grade students are in Kim Cox's class. The Citizenship Bee is organized like a Spelling Bee Competition; students compete to answer questions from the U.S. Naturalization Test.
Hanna's Lights to be Delivered to all K-3rd Grade Students via LifeNet
Kindergarten - 3rd students in Garland and Hot Spring Counties will receive flashing lights this coming week from LifeNet, Inc. The small green flashing lights are meant to be attached to the backpacks of students, so that they are visible to traffic while waiting for, boarding, or leaving school buses. Students and Principals at our Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School (pictured) helped to publicize the importance of using Hanna's Lights and general school bus safety, last week.
This week, I am excited to highlight a visit from Senator Alan Clark and Representative Les Warren as part of Take Your Legislator to School Month, offer a BIG Congrats to our athletic programs following a week of wins, and share two anonymous shoutouts to our HSJA EAST Program and an educator at OVPA. Trojan Good Things is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! Read more.
