Strong results posted
in Best Teachers ranking

Earlier this school year, Niche.com announced its overall assessments of school systems across the nation, with Carrollton City Schools ranking as the seventh best public school district in Georgia. A deeper look at the organization's research also reveals its review of districts in six specific categories, including which schools have the best teachers - a known component that reflects educational quality. Carrollton City Schools posted strong results in this segment as well, earning a rating of ninth best statewide.

Carrollton Junior High School took the top spot in the district for the second year in a row by placing fourth in the state of 549 ranked middle schools with the Best Teachers. Carrollton High School made the most significant gain in this category, ranking 21st compared to last year's 103rd out of 455 high schools. Carrollton Elementary also made significant gains in this category, ranking 52 compared to last year's 100. Carrollton Upper Elementary School placed 84th, recording a top 6 percent spot out of 1,329 elementary schools statewide.

"Quality teachers are critical to our mission to provide an exceptional education at Carrollton City Schools," said Dr. Mark Albertus, superintendent. "It is especially gratifying to see Carrollton Junior High maintain such a high ranking. The gains Carrollton High School and Carrollton Elementary School made are also exceptional and Carrollton Upper Elementary School is continuing to gain momentum." MORE

Veterans recognition program
solicits community participation

The Air Force JROTC at Carrollton High School invites all Trojan families to participate in its Annual Veterans Recognition Project. This is a well-received tradition that has been a part of the JROTC program since its inception at CHS in 2006.

Major David Conley, head JROTC instructor, encourages families to register the names of any military veterans in their immediate family (spouse, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandfather or grandmother) so they can be recognized at the annual Veterans Day presentation next month.

All schools in the district participate in this recognition event, so parents of students at all grade levels are encouraged to submit the names of the veterans in their families. It is a meaningful recognition that not only honors the veterans, but creates pride among our students when they see their family members included in this tribute.

Please help the cadets collect a comprehensive list of local veterans so they can be duly honored!
