Kiawah Fared Well Last Night but More Severe Weather is Predicted

OVERVIEW

Tropical Storm Debby remains near South Carolina's coast. Overall, Kiawah Island fared well last night, receiving approximately 0.6 inches of rain. Conditions are expected to become more severe this afternoon and overnight. The National Weather Service forecast predicts 2-4 inches of rain and wind gusts of up to 57 mph. Late tonight the storm is expected to make a second South Carolina landfall north of Kiawah. Conditions are expected to improve on Thursday.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

It is currently raining, fluctuating between heavy and light precipitation.

No power outages are currently reported.

Many roads have pockets of standing water, but no roads are closed. KICA's teams, along with St. John's Fire and the Sheriff's Office, have been working around the clock to keep roads open. KICA continues to pump flooded areas as issues arise. Drainage outfalls have been opened with outgoing tides to relieve the pond system.

Most leisure trails have flooded areas and heavy debris.

Continue to monitor local media and plan to stay home and off of roads and trails through Thursday.
