SEVERE WEATHER NOTIFICATION | FRIDAY, SEPT. 27, 2024

Kiawah Island is experiencing the lingering effects of Tropical Storm Helene. Strong winds and tornadoes are still a threat. There is dangerous high surf and rip currents. Roads have light or heavy debris and some Johns Island roads have lane closures. Several Kiawah facilities, including the Sandcastle, have delayed opening.


Please remain home and off roads, trails and boardwalks.

Additional rain and flash flooding are still possible. Storm impacts are expected to diminish this afternoon. Teams have begun assessing the island for damage and no major damage has been reported at this time.

MODIFIED OPERATIONS


The Sandcastle opens late today. The gym and indoor facilities open at 10 a.m. and the pools are expected to open at noon. KICA's Beachwalker Center and TOKI's Town Hall open at 10 a.m.
