Tropical Storm Idalia passed over our area last night around 10 p.m., coinciding with a high king tide that resulted in flooding that closed several roads. Several trees and large limbs were cleared from roads last night. While much of the hazardous flooding has receded, this morning's 9 a.m. king tide could be delaying some drainage, and some roads have standing water.
No significant power outages were reported overnight. A small outage impacted Trumpet Creeper Lane this morning.
Initial damage assessments are underway. While these assessments have not been completed at this time, most of the island's roads appear to be passable. For your safety, please stay off of roads, leisure trails and boardwalks, while inspections and debris cleanup are underway.
KICA and the town are checking for visible damage to personal property. Any members' homes with visible damage will be contacted directly.
