We will also be joined by Jerry Lang, Brad Schexnayder and Cindy LaFosse to provide additional information for those in the transportation industry.
We have a recording of this webinar available to watch on-demand. We also wanted to share today’s slide deck shared by LA DEQ, as well as contact information from our speakers.

FHWA Inspection vs. Louisiana Inspection
Clarity on recent questions regarding trucking tags
We want to make sure that everyone is aware of the guidelines around the FHWA versus Louisiana tag. Please see the information below per the Louisiana State Police.
- For interstate commerce, it is an either/or situation. You do not have to get both FHWA and the Louisiana tag. For intrastate commerce, you only need the Louisiana tag.
- All Louisiana registered commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations can obtain a Louisiana Commercial Motor Vehicle inspection and/or a periodic/annual inspection. A Louisiana Commercial Motor Vehicle inspection satisfies the requirements of 49 CFR 396.17 (Appendix G) for both the truck and the trailer.
Captain Jackson did ask that if any of you have had problems in the past being given a citation from an officer for not having both for interstate commerce to please forward it to him so he can educate his officers. (Captain Jackson's information is in the link)
