TDPUD Urges Customers to Prepare for Wildfire Safety Power Outages
With wildfire season now underway, Truckee Donner Public Utility District urges customers to prepare for the possibility of prolonged power outages. Both TDPUD and NV Energy—TDPUD’s primary transmission supplier—implement seasonal measures to mitigate wildfire risk; however, these safety programs can result in power outages lasting from a few hours to several days. TDPUD is committed to alert the community to potential wildfire safety outages, but it’s important to know that some may occur without much notice.
TDPUD has launched a new, localized Preemptive Power Shutoff program to reduce wildfire risk by proactively de-energizing high-risk areas during extreme weather while minimizing customer impacts. TDPUD will provide advance notice when possible. Separately, NV Energy's Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) program may shut off regional transmission lines during elevated wildfire risk. During an Emergency De-Energization event, NV Energy may immediately cut power when an active wildfire threatens electrical equipment, with little or no advance notice.

Join us for our July Good Morning Truckee as leaders from several of our region's special districts come together to provide timely updates on the services, projects, and initiatives that keep our community running.
From recreation and parks to aviation, utilities, and sanitation, these organizations play a vital role in the quality of life and future of the Truckee region. Whether you're a business owner, resident, or simply interested in what's happening in our community, this is an excellent opportunity to hear from the leaders shaping Truckee's future and ask questions about the services we rely on every day. Our speakers will be:

Truckee 4th of July Parade Winners Announced
The Truckee Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Truckee 4th of July Parade, as thousands of residents and visitors lined the streets of downtown Truckee to celebrate one of the community's most cherished traditions.
This year's parade showcased the creativity, spirit, and hometown pride that make Truckee such a special place. More than 60 entries featuring local businesses, nonprofits, youth organizations, community groups, and classic vehicles brought energy and excitement to the parade route. With so many creative entries, it was hard for the judges to choose the winners:
