Truckee Veterans Day Ceremony
Tuesday, November 11, 2025 | 11:00 a.m.
Honoring the veterans who have graciously served in the U.S. Armed Forces, the Town of Truckee’s annual ceremony will take place tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Monument on the corner of Spring Street and Donner Pass Road.
Mayor Jan Zabriskie will speak about the significance of this event in our community. David West II, Nevada County Veterans Service Officer, will be the keynote speaker. Live music will be provided by Mountain Belles.
After the ceremony, the American Legion Post 439 will host a free lunch for veterans and their families with food graciously provided by Wagon Train Coffee Shop at Veterans Hall at 10214 High Street. This will be a great celebration of our wonderful veterans and their families - hope to see you there.

Lunch & Learn: Cybersecurity Essentials
for Your Business

Join us this Wednesday for our November Lunch & Learn featuring Chris Hardy, Chief Information Security and Technology Officer for the Town of Truckee. Chris will discuss key cybersecurity practices every business should know, from protecting sensitive data to recognizing potential threats before they cause harm. He’ll also share insights on current trends in cybercrime and how small businesses can build resilience through proactive security measures.
In addition, Chris will explore emerging risks around deep fakes and AI consulting errors. With tools like Sora 2.0 making impersonations more convincing than ever, it’s becoming easier for bad actors to mimic your voice or likeness during phone calls and online meetings. He’ll also provide best practices and examples to help business owners learn how to spot AI-generated content and verify the facts.

Truckee Core Values Event Fund

This Friday, November 14 is the last day to apply for the Truckee Core Values Event Fund! The Truckee Core Values Event Fund is a community event fund created by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Truckee and powered by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. The fund supports marketing of nonprofit organization events or events that partner with nonprofit organizations that align with at least one of the five Truckee Core Values:

- Family-Friendly
- Natural Beauty
- Community-Minded
- Arts, Culture, History

Wild River - Tahoe Truckee Waldorf School Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Wild River: Tahoe Truckee Waldorf School proudly celebrated the grand opening of their new campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Truckee, and attended by students, families, faculty, board members, and community members. The expansive new campus represents an exciting chapter of growth for the school, expanding opportunities for hands-on, nature-based education rooted in Waldorf principles.
The celebration featured remarks from school leadership, a wonderful choral performance about harvest season performance by students, and tours of the new Hakasatun campus surrounded by natural beauty on 40 acres of open space off of Union Road in Truckee. Wild River provides an inspiring environment designed to support creativity, community, and experiential learning from early childhood through middle school.
Families interested in learning more are invited to attend the Wild River: Truckee Tahoe Waldorf School Open House on November 19 for an inspirational evening and a special look into their unique TK/K-7 classroom experience. Visit with their teachers, meet the community, learn about each class, and discover and experience their grounded learning approach and time tested educational and developmental philosophy. Child care and activity provided! Also save the date of December 6 for their Winter Faire Family Festival from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.

North Lake Tahoe-Truckee Leadership Program Accepting Applications
Now through December 5, 2025
The North Lake Tahoe-Truckee Leadership Program (NTTLP) is now accepting applications for its 2026 cohort. Since 2004, the program has graduated more than 500 leaders who live, work, or volunteer in the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee region.
NTTLP is designed to expand participants’ awareness of regional issues and opportunities while sharpening leadership skills for meaningful community impact. The program offers a curriculum featuring full-day sessions January through June 2026, focused on topics such as economic development, environment, local government, tourism, and workforce. Participants engage directly with civic and business leaders, build valuable peer networks, and experience hands-on learning opportunities. Graduates join a powerful alumni network of more than 500 professionals shaping the future of the Lake Tahoe-Truckee region.
This year NTTLP is excited to announce that three local leadership leaders will be presenting throughout the program. Susan Giacobazzi, founder of LoveYour Five, will join the class to guide them through a Clifton Strengths class and dive into communication and the leadership journey. Autumn Lincoln, owner of Tahoe Dave’s, will teach the group the best way to build effective teams, and Kate Frankfurt, founder of Goodwolf Leadership Coaching, will work with the group on managing up and how to give and receive feedback as a leader. This year’s program will also get to hear from a panel on the challenges and opportunities presented by intergenerational leadership opportunities.
The 2026 program begins on Friday, January 9, followed by sessions on February 20, March 13, April 10, May 8, June 5, and graduation on June 12. Tuition is $825 for businesses, $750 for special districts, and $600 for nonprofits, and includes meals and materials. Partial scholarships are available.
