Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ Park!
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 | 4:00 p.m.
The Town of Truckee is thrilled to announce that DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ Park located at 10257 West River Street, is officially complete, and the community is invited to celebrate tomorrow. Come explore Truckee’s newest riverfront gem, featuring scenic walking paths, native landscaping, picnic tables, benches, restrooms, and stunning views of the Truckee River. The park also connects directly to the pedestrian bridge and Legacy Trail, creating an inviting new link for our community. Public art installations recently added bring creativity and local culture to the park’s beautiful natural setting. Be among the first to experience the full vision of DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ Park!
This park’s story began in 2004, when the Town of Truckee acquired the former Nevada County Maintenance Yard. After years of community collaboration and thoughtful design, construction began in 2024. The park’s name, DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ, was chosen by the Washoe Tribe and translates to “the water running out," a tribute to the Truckee River’s role as the only outlet from Lake Tahoe. Join us as we cut the ribbon and officially open this beautiful new space for everyone to enjoy!

Fixit Clinic
Monday, October 20, 2025 | 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
If it’s broke, fix it! Let’s extend the life of our products, and keep them out of the landfill. Bring your broken electronics, furniture, clothing, outdoor gear, and more. “Fixit Coaches” from the Truckee Roundhouse will teach you how to repair your item. This is a FREE community event run by volunteers!
Repair is a sustainable act that encourages reusing resources at hand rather than purchasing new. To date, Truckee Fixit Clinics have saved more than 1,000 lbs. of items from the landfill! They've repaired items from toaster ovens, wooden chairs, to lamps, puffy jackets and denim. Please limit textiles and clothing repairs to 3 items per person and there is often a wait for Fixit Coaches to assist with clothing & textiles due to the popularity of these items.
Bring in what you got, “Fixit Coaches” are up for the challenge! But even if the item isn’t fixed, there’s a valuable educational aspect to understanding why it stopped working.

Hear updates from senior leaders at Tahoe Forest Hospital on local healthcare, from Sven Leff, General Manager of Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District on recreation and community programs, and Seana Doherty, Coordinator, Tahoe Truckee Homelessness Advisory Committee, on efforts to support our most vulnerable neighbors. Our nonprofit spotlight will be the Truckee Lions Club. Together, these organizations help shape the quality of life we all value in Truckee.
