Congratulations to KidZone Museum: Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Site in Truckee River Regional Park
Congratulations to KidZone Museum for their celebratory groundbreaking ceremony on July 10, marking the start of construction on its long-awaited permanent home. Longtime Executive Director Carol Meagher presided over the event, which included a blessing of the land by members of the local Washoe Tribe, remembering the native Washoe people.
Suzanne Montgomery, Board Campaign Chair, KidZone Museum Board Members and supporters, community leaders, and KidZone staff and families donned hard hats and took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking by shoveling dirt into the future museum site. For more than 30 years, KidZone Museum has been an equitable play space, serving families throughout the region while working toward the vision of creating a permanent destination where all children are welcome to learn through play, explore science and nature, and develop critical early childhood skills.
The new campus will feature a 6,500-square-foot museum and science center, plus a 9,000-square-foot outdoor learning and play environment. Community partners including Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District, joined building partners including JKAE, CORE Construction, Teichert, and more in celebrating the project's exciting new chapter.
Construction is now underway, with KidZone Museum continuing its fundraising efforts to support exhibits, maker spaces, climbable structures, and other interactive learning experiences that will bring the new campus to life.

Regional Funders Join Forces for the 2026 Regional Community Grant Cycle
Four leading regional funders are making it easier for nonprofits to access critical funding through a shared grant application process. The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, Martis Camp Foundation, Martis Fund, and Tahoe Donner Giving Fund have aligned their 2026 Regional Grantmaking Cycle, allowing eligible nonprofits serving North Lake Tahoe-Truckee to submit one Common Application for consideration by all four organizations.
The online application will be open August 1-31, 2026, with the collective anticipating more than $2 million in grant funding. New Regional Partnership Brings Expanded Job Board Services Through Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective
The Truckee Chamber of Commerce, North Tahoe Chamber, and Tahoe Prosperity Center have formalized a regional partnership to expand and strengthen workforce development efforts through the newly rebranded Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective. Building on the success of the Truckee Jobs Collective, the expanded Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective will leverage new regional partnerships, resources, and outreach efforts to better serve employers, job seekers, and communities throughout the greater Truckee-Tahoe region.
“The Truckee Chamber of Commerce launched the Jobs Collective in 2019 to address one of the region’s most significant economic challenges: workforce recruitment and retention,” said Jessica Penman, Truckee Chamber president and CEO. “The platform has served as a centralized resource connecting local employers with job seekers throughout the Truckee-Tahoe region, so partnering with the North Tahoe Chamber and the Tahoe Prosperity Center to expand its ability to serve businesses and our local workforce was a natural next step.”
The partnership represents a significant investment in the long-term economic health of the region. By helping local businesses attract and retain talent, the Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective supports business sustainability, workforce development, and a stronger local economy.
