JULY 2021
The Official Skinny From Truitt World HQ
Summer is on and I do not ever remember being busier. I am sure it is the same with you. We continue celebrating 30 years in business during 2021 and wonder where in the world all that time went. We want to say thanks so much for your business, support and good wishes. We are so grateful for all the relationships we have made over the years so please know we are going to be trying harder than ever to create an environment where our clients and employees never want to leave. We can't wait to make a good thing even better.

Celebrating 30 Years!
We mentioned it last time but we are celebrating 30 years in business, officially moving past that mark in June. John Truitt is our company's founder and we are glad he got things off the ground for us three decades ago. He is still coming in pretty much every day at 83 years old and making it happen!
What We Have Been Up To
Taking Over The Airwaves!
We launched TRUITT NEWS RADIO and did our first show on July 10th. It may not be great radio yet but it is a pretty good time so far. Tune in to Birmingham's Talk 99.5FM each Saturday morning from 7am - 8am to hear me and Birmingham legal guru Brock Murphy talk current topics, things going on around the area, spread the good news of what our friends and associates are up to and generally goof around.
Lauren's New Book
Truitt's Matt Denton has a really talented wife and he should be proud. Her new book, the one you're with, was recently released, is excellent and getting outstanding reviews. This is her 5th book and she continues growing her fan-base. She has had book signings at Page & Palette in Fairhope and Little Professor in Birmingham in the couple of weeks and more are scheduled as the buzz keeps generating. Get out and get your copy today at your local bookseller or buy one at Amazon.
Team Truitt Addition!
Susie Norman joined our staff recently and we couldn't be happier. She has been a great addition to our personal lines service team. Though she is new with Truitt, Susie has a ton of experience working with home & auto clients and has a fantastic personality that fits us well.
If you are an existing client, Susie will be reaching out to you soon or if you need help with anything, please reach out to her and she will get you set up. You are going to like working with her.
Summer Travels
I Went Flying
I celebrated another birthday in June so we packed up and headed to the IFLY in Atlanta for some indoor skydiving. My family all took a turn learning to take flight and we had a blast. I think they had to turn on an extra fan to get me lifted up and keep me going but it ended up working. I would tell you this is a great stop if you are going over to a Braves game. It is right off the same exit.
Testing The Fountain Of Youth
We headed down to St. Augustine in June. Slipped by DeSoto's Fountain of Youth while we were there because I think I need a boost. So far, no luck, but I need it to kick in soon.

I had never been to St. Augustine before but I am a huge fan now. It hit the trifecta with me: beautiful place, lot of history, and good food.

If you are thinking about going, let me know and I can give you all the tips you need to help you have a lot of fun.
Fun at Lake Martin
Here I am paddle-boarding earlier this month at Lake Martin. Turns out I need a little more work to get this down. I was actually pretty excited I didn't make a bigger splash, it felt like I did and I can say it was sudden. I also didn't realize my calves were pretty much the only thing trying to attach me to the board so those were pretty sore for a few days. The poor neighbor across the lake also got a good glimpse of my rear-end the entire time as I was trying to figure out how to go from bent at the waist to standing. Very seldom did I get out of that position so they just had to endure it.

Truitt Doing It In the Community
We have always taken a lot of pride in helping out as many churches, schools, charities and other organizations as we can across the state and are committed to doing more. Here is some of what we have been up to lately:
JCCHS Billboard
We were excited to let John Carroll Catholic High School use part of our billboard spots down by Royal Automotive at I-65 this summer to get the word out on their great school.
Brownville Methodist Church Cemetery Fund
We are proud to help out some of our state's smaller churches as we can. These churches struggle with limited budgets but serve a lot of great people. We recently made a donation to the Brownville Methodist Church as this one is close to our hearts. It is where John Truitt married Gail Ward 60 years ago.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama is really close to our hearts as well. They keep families together while their children are undergoing treatment, primarily at Children's of Alabama. We are looking forward to their HEART OF THE HOUSE GALA coming up next month. It is one of RMHCA's primary fundraisers. Please check out for more info on this and other events benefitting the house.
We can get you set up with:

  • Probate Bonds
  • Notary Bonds
  • Pretty Much Anything Else

  • For all the folks like me that love driving around and seeing the country, click here for an article on the 60 best scenic drives in America.

  • Back in July of 1974, The Birmingham Americans kicked off the season. They won the first game against the Southern California Sun at Legion Field, then they went on the road, putting a second half pounding on the New York Stars to come back and get their 2nd win.

  • Shout out to Scott Simpson, executive chef of the Depot in Auburn, on winning the sixth annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off held in Gulf Shores recently. His pan-seared Gulf yellow edge group stuffed poblano chile on Gulf Shrimp, sweet corn and conecuh-bacon risotto with cilantro creme did the trick. Dang, looks like I am going to the Depot pretty soon.
